SOURCE: Sony Handycam CCD-TR64 cassette door won't close

Common problem with this mechanism. In order to fix the problem you will have to replace part called CHASSIS LS. Expensive repair, probably not worth the effort.

Testimonial: "Thanks. We ended up getting a new camcorder. That Handycam was as old as I am (18 years), so it was time for an upgrade anyway."

you can do that with EASYCAP usb2, a camcorder video capture card card " USB Convert VHS Tapes CAMCORDER to DVD Capture 0" , on ebay from wanghaostore. 10$. works perfectly, useful to digitalize VHS tapes too.

Tape jammed. Eject jammed.

Sometimes the tape is stuck on the head . Open the door and try to pry off the tape from the head with a thin instrument . Power up the unit and usually it spits out the cass. This worked for me many times.

Handycam CCD TR517 Doesn't record

These models have a switch for 3 different modes of record. one where you press the red button once, one for having to hold the red button in and a 5 second record feature, check this mode. also check and make sure the tape you are using did not have the record save switch slid into record save position..

It wont eject and it comes up with error c32

You should be able to solve this yourself. ... ... Just as I though. Just remove your battery, and unplug the power cable. Wait a few seconds, and put one or the other (or both) back in, and it should work.

I think what has happened, is the door got jammed when it was told to open, but it got stuck. If this doesn't work, please refer to your operation instructions (pages 73-76)

Unable to remove tape from my sony Hi8 990X

Yes, you should open the camera and near the video head there is loading motor. It has 2 terminals, just give power of 4-5 volts and motor will rotate and mechanism will drive to eject position.

How do that the image is blask and white?

Dear Sasanka,
I think CCD-TR517 is more then 10 years old and it has hardware problem i.e capacitors in camera got weaker and need to be replaced all of them.

Ccd tr517

I had the same thing on mine and it turned out to be the on/off switch in the lens head. I took it apart and moved the switch a bit and the problem did not come back for quite awhile. I replaced the switch and it has been fine.

My camera would actually turn on by itself also before changing the switch.
