Try connecting in MSC mode of the USB settings - then using windows or mac or linux to delete files. In MSC mode the player should be recognised as a bog standard usb storage device. The files are have the hidden attribute set, so you must enable show all files in Windows or you won't see the Music directory they are in.

SOURCE: cant delete songs

Running check disk may help.

Here's the workaround:

  1. Connect in MSC / Rhapsody Mode.
  2. Open My Computer and take note of the drive letter; example; e:/ or f:/
  3. Left click Start then Run: and type in chkdsk x:/f (x being the drive letter that was previously noted).

*/f: Fixes errors on the disk.

Hi ashlyn scott...
Try this method of deleting your album
************************************************
Deleting Files,Pictures,Videos,Audio Books, Apps,etc. from MP3 Player/Ipod
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BIG WARNING: DO NOT DELETE THE FILES NEEDED TO OPERATE YOUR MP3 PLAYER.
Hook up your mp3 player to your computer
Go to your desktop and double left click on "My Computer"
When it opens you will see listing that says "Devices with Removal Storage" your mp3 player should be listed there.
Right click on your mp3 player, and a window will open, right click on "Open" and now your files/songs should be visible.
Hold the left click down and drag it across all the files/songs that you do not want this will highlight the files/songs you do not want, release, right click and then click on "Delete"
Now you mp3 player should be clear of the files/songs you do not want.
ONE MORE BIG WARNING: BE CAREFUL AND DO NOT DELETE THE FILES NEEDED TO OPERATE YOUR MP3 PLAYER.

Am unable delete song...they do not show up on my computer either

I have a dffierent mp3 player Colby with a usb and I had the same problem. Try deleting the songs from the device itself. If you go into folder view if you havet hat option and choose the song it says to play or delet, at least that is what mine says. It may take awhile to do it one song at a time, but you should have the option of deleting the songs from the actual mp3 player.

I also had minenot show up, mine was do to deleting some of the software off of the player to make more room for songs. I never used podcasts and other files that came on it, so after I deleted them my songs stopped showing up. I just copy the songs to my mp3 player now, and delete them one by one. Hope this helps you.

My mp3 player has songs on it and i want to delete them

Run a Repair in the Philips Device Manager - it will start your player over from scratch. Go ahead and update the firmware on the player while you're at it - detailed instructions available from Philips website.

Here's how you get it
you may have to open Windows Media Player but maybe not
a screen will come saying for you to choose either NO leave all the media on the device... or YES delete all media.
click YES but MAKE SURE you have the HOLD button on OFF. if you dont... it will not work
after it completes the task click FINISH

i tried for hours trying to figure it out and that made it work like a charm! =]

Syncing songs

i solved my problem, i think, by reformatting the player. the iriver tech help offered several methods to reformat, which didn't work. but this did: settings,--advanced,--format device. this will delete everything on the player, but now it can sync successfully.
