The print cartridge may not have full electrical contact with the printer. Removing and reinstalling the cartridge may help.

Turn off the Printer and check by cleaning the Connection contact with the spirit ..

Then wait for 10 min to 15 min

#Make sure the printer is on. Press the Power button if it is not lit.
#Open the printer cover, and then wait until the carriage is idle and silent.
#Press down gently on the top of the cartridge to release it.
#Slide the cartridge out and inspect it.
1 - Copper electrical contacts
2 - Nozzles
* Check the electrical contacts for debris.
* Make sure all the clear protective tape has been removed from the nozzle and electrical contact area.
#Reinstall the cartridge in the product and try again to print.

Clean the cartridge contacts

To clean the electrical contacts on the print cartridge and in the carriage in the printer, follow these steps:

  1. Open the printer lid and wait until the carriage stops moving, and then unplug the power cord.
  2. Remove the cartridge and place it on a piece of paper with the nozzle plate facing up.
  3. Dip a clean cotton swab in distilled water, and then squeeze it to remove most of the moisture.
  4. Clean the print cartridge contacts. Do not touch the nozzles.
  5. Clean the contacts inside the carriage, inside the printer.
  6. Either let the cartridge sit for ten minutes to allow the cleaned area to dry, or use a new swab to dry it.
  7. Reinstall the cartridge, plug in the power cord, close the printer cover, and then try again to print.

Step four: Reset the printerTo reset the printer, follow these steps:
  1. Disconnect the Universal Serial Bus (USB) cable from the back of the printer, but leave the printer turned on.
  2. Open the cover of the printer and remove the print cartridges.
  3. Close the cover and wait for the Insert Ink Cartridges message.
  4. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and wait for one minute.
  5. Reconnect the power cord. If the printer does not automatically turn on, press the Power button.
  6. Open the cover and reinsert the print cartridges.
  7. Close the cover. If prompted, print a calibration page.
  8. Reconnect the USB cable, and try again to print.

Sometimes get that statement if your using generic cartridges. Also when changing an hp cartridge usually it will require you to align the page after changing the cartridge. Could try alligning maybe that will remove the error message.

HP 4015x and I get an insert black cartridge error. Not sure what I should be replacing on it or what to check on the printer.

Thank you for contacting FixYa with your printer inquiry.
This error is most common when your toner cartridge has reached it's end of life. Sometimes it will alternate with "This cartridge has reached a low threshold error" which indicates you can keep printing but need to order a new toner cartridge. See page 155 of your support manual for more on this error.
See page #117 of your user guide for toner installation instructions. http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01295101/c01295101.pdf
If you have installed a new toner cartridge and receive "Remove Shipping Lock Error" that means you have not removed the protective strip on page 118 step #5.
You can order new toner cartridge from HP PartSurfer or retail merchant where printer purchased.
http://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?SearchText=CB511A CC364-67902 Black print cartridge - Prints approximately 24,000 pages per cartridge CC364-67901 Black print cartridge - Prints approximately 10,000 pages per cartridge

Installation of cartridges correctly

Follow these steps to install the printer cartridge :
•1
Make sure the HP printer is turned on. Open the print carriage access door. Wait for the carriage to stop moving.
•2
Remove the old cartridge from the print carriage.
•3
Remove the new print cartridge from its packaging. Being careful to touch only the black plastic, gently remove the plastic tape by using the pull tabs. Make sure you've removed all of the tape.
•4
Slide the new print cartridge into the empty slot in the print carriage. Push the print cartridge forward until it clicks into place. Press down on the latch until it is securely closed.
•5
Close the print-carriage access door. Print a test page to make sure your new cartridge is properly aligned.

I have a HP Photosmart C4150 All-in-One printer. The color inkjet cartridge is leaking profusely. Much ink is now smeared in the cartridge area, both the color cartridge and black cartridge area. If I...

The following video demonstrates how to replace the cartridges and the printhead. You do not necessarily need to replace the cartridges. Simply refer to the video for replacing the printhead, and then stop the video.
You could carefully clean this as follows:
put the printer on some newspaper to avoid further spills.
Turn on the printer, then open the lid to allow the carriage to move to the center.
Now unplug the printer, then gently move the carriage to the left and out of the way.
You should now have limited access to the spittoon area.
You can clean this area by carefully scooping out the ***** of ink with a plastic spoon. (Be careful not to drop ink sludge on your printer, desk, carpet or clothing.)
Once most of the ink has been removed then use a crumpled paper towel to soak up the ink in the bottom of the service station.
It may take several rounds of this to clean up the service station.
It is not necessary to completely clean the service station, just get the majority of the ink out.
Once this has been completed you could turn the printer up and clean the bottom area of the printer. Do not tip up the printer before the service station has been cleaned or you are likely to create a mess....
