I am getting error code UI and it won't move or do anything? what can i do to fix it?
I found a fix in another thread. I tried it last night, and it worked. Nothing was broken; a moving plastic piece had just jumped out of its track. Here's the fix:
1. Remove the cover (2 screws on each side & 3 in the back).
2. Find a small white arm (more or less cylindrical, about 1" diameter, & about 3/4" long) and a longer (4-5"?) thin black arm in the center of the unit. These parts load/unload CDs to/from the playing area. You should see that a little knob on the white piece has jumped out of its track in the black piece.
3. Carefully put the knob on the white piece back in its track in the black piece. That should do it.

bless you Eric Carden!!!! thank you....this worked like a charm. It did take me a while of staring at it - there was a second black arm (with a spool in it) and i thought that was what you meant....then i saw the other black piece close to where the cds are - it was kind of hidden, but i moved it out and voila! there was a veritical **** that the white know popped into.....
I know I should be upgrading, but i've been so happy with this that i hate to have to go tech.....
Thank you Thank you god bless Eric Cardin the fix is in on on my very loved 300 disk changer

Bless you Eric and Eddie - from 9 years in the future this was still a great fix! Snapped a quick pic for anyone else who ends up seeking this answer.
PS 2020 sucks, stay back in 2008 or 2011 and just keep filling this baby with CDs...

My Pioneer 301 cd player was moved and some of the CDs came loose. The result was the machine jammed and displays the U1 code. I took the top off and cleared the jammed CDs, but the problem persists - the carousel will not try to rotate, although I believe it is free to do so. I wonder if something breaks when the carousel jams?
after moving, cds jammed and I get a U1 error code and the carousel will not move. I tried unplugging but nothing works.
I had the same problem. After moving and hooking it back up to my receiver/amp, I turned it on and tried to play a CD (to test that I had hooked it up correctly). It made an awful clicking noise as the carousel turned to pick the right CD. I turned it off, pulled the cover, removed all CDs and am now stuck with this error and a carousel that won't turn.
