Sound does not work for monitor speakers. How do I fix?

Lets find out first if it is the monitor' powered speakers problem or the sound card problem.
Try feeding the monitor with sound source such as MP3 player, if it does not work, then the power amp circuits may be at fault, it may not be worth having it fixed since you will be better off spending the money on a good set of powered speakers that will put out so much better sound than the speakers the size of a quarter in the monitor.

Let find out first if it is the monitor rpoblem or the sound card problem. Feed the monitor with sound source such as MP3 player and see if you get the sound OK, if not then it may have bad sound IC which will not be worth fixing because the price of a good set of PC power speakers will cost you less than the repair job on this monitor, beside, you will get much better sound from the PC speakers anyway, something to think about.

You need to plug the 3.55mm audio cable on to the computer (usually the green line-in) and on to your monitor's audio line in. Hope this helps.

Make sure that your soundcard is properly installed as are it's drivers. Check to see that sound is not muted. This can be done via the speaker icon in the system tray or from sound in control panel.

check if you have installed your sound drivers and the monitor drivers , if they working good on other cpu that should fix your problem. if you don´t know how to check or update drivers let me know. and good luck

Please try to check it from Control Panel > Sound, speech & audio devices > Sound and Audio Devices > Hardware tab > then select the Device Name then click Properties tab to verify its condition status or you opt to click Troubleshoot tab. regards

just check the problem area
first go to sound setting by click on sond icon on task bar and set the speaker on.
if not get possitive result then chech sond by using head phone make sure sound drivers working properly or not if not then reinstall the sound driver

There is no sound driver, they are speakers, they work off of the audio output jack on the back of your PC, on the motherboard. If you have the sound drivers installed for the motherboard, and no sound, then you have plugged the monitor audio cable into the wrong jack on the PC, or you have the settings wrong just as MIKE said above.

Hi check the sound cable hasn't fallen out or come loose from the back of the monitor. After this reinstall the drivers for the monitor you will be able to download them from viewsonic if still not working then the speaker jack or speakers are faulty.

Sample testing is usually a firmware built into the monitor amplifier ie the monitor is testing itself. you problem possibly lies with the computer sound system. Tell me more about this. Is it an 'On-board' sound card or separate PCI card. You can determine this by looking at the back of the computer- if all the connectors - sound- PS2 and USB are in the same panel - then it is an on-board system. If the sound is separate in one of the card position then it is a PCI card. The possibility is the sound system needs setting up- check your computer paperwork/manual and utilities disk for Audio drivers. Come back with some answers
