Ok,
I have a 1999 Ford Escort and the transmission slips out of gear when either going around a corner or slamming on the brakes when going down the freeway.
I took it in to have a checked out and code PO734 came up for GEAR 4 INCORRECT RATIO.
So far looking on the net I have found ideas such as retaining clip or forward clutch control valve. Do you think this may be the case here?
Unfotunately for me where I live nobody knows what they are doing when it comes to tranmission work.
Can someone please tell me what it is I need to do and/or how much this will cost me to either buy the parts and fix myself or take it to the people I do not want to to fix and just hope and pray I get the car back by 2010. Basically what I would really like to know if anybody knows is how serious this code is and what is recommended to fix.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thank you,
