Possible Video problem with Acer Aspire 5102.

Hey guys

I have a Acer Aspire 5120WLMi with the integrated video card ATI Radeon Xpress 1100, 2GB RAM.

It used to work prefectly but it started giving me a headache all of a sudden and I don't know what's wrong. I play Lineage II in my free time, and it used to run in this computer w/o any troubles, I would be able to play it @ high quality. Now it loads normally but it randomly lags or something, it runs perfectly for few minutes, then it runs SUPER SLOW for less than a minute, then runs perfectly again, and it keeps doing this over and over again. I tried playing with the video config and got nothing fixed, I reinstalled the drivers, updated drivers and even formatted and reinstalled everything but it just keeps happening.

Does anyone has a clue of what could be happening?, I've been looking in different forums but I found nothing to help me.

Thx in advance.

AMD Turion 64 x2 - 1.6GHz, 512 L2 cache
ATI Radeon Xpress 1100

Chiming in, After installing the 8-1 catalyst I go this issue. Just installed the new 8-2 and will see what happens. For me it happened during CS 1.6, not even source, it has never done this but exactly like you said. Normal and every 3 min or so I lag for about 30-45 seconds.

I want to overclock my acer aspire 5050 this the review: * Processor: AMD Turion64 x2 TL-50 (1.6 GHz, 512 KB L2 cache total, 256 KB on each core) * RAM: 1 GB 533 MHz DDR2 RAM (2 x 512 MB) * Hard...

I have the same system too. None of the tuners such as RIVA work well w/ integrated notebook card, and u r graphics card is pretty ghetto. I could however, download POWERSTRIP and tune up a minescule 300-400 MHz but it won't let me access memory clock. More than this I could do no further overclocking.

Integrated video card and second card don't work simultaneously

Not all mobo's can do this. The motherboard integrated graphics needs to be by ATI and you need to see if your motherboard supports hybrid crossfire. If the built in graphics is not ATI, they will not work together.

Replacement Laptop Graphics Card

Hi!

You can actually replace and upgrade the video/graphics card if it is not integrated. But in this case, upon checking on your model, the video card on this system is NOT replaceable or upgradable since it is built-in or integrated with the system.

Thank you.

I have a acer aspire 5100. I'm running vista sp1 ultimate 64x I have 4 gb of ram I'm having a very difficult time trying to plat Knights of the Old Republic (a game from 2000) I have a ati radeon xpress...

This model comes in 2 different flavors and I am unsure which one you have but here's the skinny on it:
Option 1:
ATI Radeon® Xpress 1100 chipset with integrated 3D
graphics, up to 256 MB of shared system memory

Option 2:
• ATI Mobility™ Radeon® X1300/X1600 with up to 512MB of
HyperMemory™ (64MB of dedicated GDDR2 VRAM;
up to 448MB of shared system memory), supporting

Regardless of which one you have, you should be able to set the shared memory in the BIOS, or you can use the Acer ePerformance Management software either installed on your machine already, or which can easily be downloaded from their website at this link:

ATI radeon xpress 1250 for laptop

Have you tried the windows update, usually for vista they have a built-in WDM drivers for ATI, and right now you may want to use that for the meantime if the computer did not recognize the exact model number also when using the windows update it you can check if microsoft has a new WDM driver for your video card.

The video card is a built-in video card on the mobo, right?

Hi,

Offhand I would suspect video and/or its drivers. Pls try starting in "Safe Mode" and determine if problem persists. If no, then you may need to reload/update your video drivers, if yes, then you have a problem with the video card (hardware). I believe an Acer Aspire 5100 uses ATI Radeon® Xpress 1100 chipset. Am no just sure if it is an add-on card or integrated into the motherboard. Perhaps what you can do is to open the panels underneath the laptop and verify if the different cards including the memory are seated correctly.

Additionally, a post by Mark_Webber, another FixYa expert, addressed a slightly similar concern with another Acer Aspire 5100 here. It might be of additional information. This page might be interesting if not likewise informative.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Click below to upgrade your video card. Select: Windows Vista 32-Bit Edition. Than choose: Integrated/motherboard. Than pick: Radeon Xpress 1100.
