This is a JVC Pro logic
the screen is all red - it looks like it has lost all black/dark colour
+ there are diagonal lines accross the screen
can this be repaired?
do I need to change the tube?
if so how easy is it to do this?
thanks a lot for responding so quickly - unfortunately, I cannot see the model number anywhere - is the crt board the back of the tv? sorry I am just useless!thanks a lot for responding so quickly - unfortunately, I cannot see the model number anywhere - is the crt board the back of the tv? sorry I am just useless!

Nice to have model number. tap on crt board with a plastic handle see if it goes away. otherwise it sounds like the tube is bad, you could also try to adjust the red brightness screen
usually in front, if you don't know what your doing i recommend having a service tech look at it. there is high voltage inside.usually in front, if you don't know what your doing i recommend having a service tech look at it. there is high voltage inside.

not so sure if warped lines about it not being convergence, if the lines are diagonal and light red etc it may be a screen circuit issue. Hard to tell from description----take a few good photos and post them on a free photo sharing site and provide a link here---expert who sees what it looks like may be able to help...............
Do you have speakers next to your tv sometimes the line on your tv will be from your sound to close to your tv also the red line could mean your tv tube is going out there about 300 to replace but i ould check frist on your sound are something close to you tv that is maken the red line in the middle of your tv
Red picture tube needs screen voltage adjust. Open fornt or back of TV and look for a black square looking box with adjustment knobs. Look for red screen adj and slowly turn rt or lft until lines just disappear. If screen goes too bright tv will shut down, just turn back on again and retry
Your convergence board is going out. this will have to be replaced. i would take a look at the main logic board as well. it could have minor point breakage.
Roger, if your contrast (sometimes called picture) and brightness controls are at max you can increase the tubes brightness by turning the "screen control" clockwise, be advised a little turn goes a long ways, don`t crank it too far or you will get retrace lines, you will have to remove the back from the set and follow the red wire down from the tube to the "flyback transformer" on the front of the flyback are 2 controls, focus and screen, do not move the focus control, this should fix your problem.
Most likely your visitor turned one of the controls located on the back of the TV. There are only two controls they are the right side of the set in the back. The top one is the focus and the bottom one is the SCREEN control. You can carefully rotate clockwise the screen control until the brightness is back to normal. If you go to high with it you will see faint diagonal lines going accross the picture.
The green gun in your picture tube is set a little too high.
If you are experienced in removing the back cover of TV's,etc., you may try to find the drive and/or bias controls either on the circuit board that plugs on to the neck of the picture tube or mounted on the main circuit board of your TV. These controls are usually labeled. If you can find them, locate the green bias or drive control and back it down a little while watching the picture through a mirror. A slight adjustment may correct your problem.tJIS IS CALLED GRAY SCALE ADJUSTMENT.
BE CAREFUL THERE ARE SOME HIGH VOLTAGE CIRCUITS NEARBY. WORK WITH ONE HAND AND USE AN INSULATED TOOL TO MAKE ADJUSTMENTS
I hope this may help you.AGAIN BE CAREFUL!!
