That means the dvd (I assume you meant dvd not vcr) needs tuning to the stations. Press menu, then select the tool box icon(or setup) and select the tuning option. Select auto tune and press go(centre button).
Give it a few minutes to tune in and away you go.

I forgot to add that you should turn the tv to the "channel" that youb watch the movies on and then press menu.

DVD works but not VCR

There seems to be a compatability issue, run an rca video and audio cables from the output of the vcr to the input of the tv, that should restore the video and sound.

Need to attach dvd/vcr player to cable box and hdtv

DVD/VCR will take inputs of either component BGR RW or composite YWR and will provide either composite or HDMI output. My suggestion is to take the "best output" from the cable box you can and use the HDMI output to your HDTV. This will take the best your cable will offer and give your TV the best signal to use.
Cable box ------ to DVD/VCR ------ to HDTV.

I have a samsung dvd recorder, whats the proper way to connect for it to work, do i connect to cable box, tv

How you connect it depends on your system. You need to connect the video out of the recorder to the TV. If you want to record programs, you need to connect the cable box to the recorder's video in. (The unit doesn't have a tuner if you have the unit listed above.)

Place the IR Blaster near the set-top box IR receiver. Connect the RF cable from the wall to your set-top box and then another RF cable from the set-top box to the TV (not to the DVD recorder). Connect a composite A/V cable from the set-top box A/V (composite) out to the DVD recorder's A/V in (AV1) port. (Composite video is a three wire cable - the plugs are yellow (video) and red/white (R/L audio).)

Next you need to connect the unit to the TV. Depending on the TV, you can use an HDMI cable (best results), component video or another composite video cable (labeled AV2 AV out). If you use component video, you'll need a separate cable to carry the audio. (Component video cables have 3 RCA jacks on each end (red, blue and green). The audio cable has the red and white plugs.

You will only get a 480 (SD) signal output if you use anything other than the HDMI cable. (The progressive scan feature is not compatible with all TVs; see the manual for details.)

You can obtain the manual from http://www.samsung.com/us/support/detail/supportPrdDetail.do?menu=SP01&prd_mdl_name=DVD-VR375 .

I hope this helps.

(you have an additional A/V IN connection as well as a DV In port on the front of the unit)

How do I connect to Sharp HDTV and Comcast cable

Your dvd recorder only has rca, red white yellow inputs it wont allow you to record in HD, although you can play your comcast box any hd, regular digital through and record. Hook up the comcast box if HD through preferably HDMI if not get one from comcast. The HD box is the only box that allow HDMI, component and regular RCA and some RF out. This way you can play HD to your set but also record through RCA or RF again will not allow for HD record unless its TiVo. Hope this helps

My player seems not able to upscale the signal from my antennea and DVDs

Upscaling will only occur when playing DVDs. You have to use an HDMI connection from the DVD player to the tv. For upscaling of DVD's you will also have to setup the upscaling resolution in the DVD player's setup menu. Be sure to set the resolution to one that your tv will support.

If your tv does not have a HDMI input, then you will not be able to use the upscaling feature.

Upscaling will not occur on antenna signals. This is not possible because the hardware (inside DVD player) is only meant to upscale DVD video.

Again, to upscale DVDs ONLY, you will have to have an HDMI cable going from DVD player to TV, set up your upscaling options on your DVD setup menu and have a TV that has a HDMI input and is capable of recieving the upscaled resolution you have set your DVD player to.

If you have any further question regarding this, let me know!

How to connect motorola cable box to samsung dvd/vcr model vr375 to a Westinghouse hdtv with 2 hdmi connections

The DVD-VR375 does not have an HDMI input. The connection should be:
• RED WHITE & YELLOW CABLE from your cable box (AV OUT) should connect to the DVD-VR375 (AV IN 1). Set the DVD-VR375 to AV 1 using the INPUT SEL. button.
• Next, connect an HDMI cable from the DVD-VR375 (HDMI OUT) to the TV (HDMI IN). Set the TV to the proper source.
This connection would allow the recorder to work as a pass through and will let you record TV programs as well as watch your cable channels.

Hope this helps!

Hookup wrong? I can't get the menu to come up for the VR375

New HD tv. Have digital cable box connected to tv., cable box connected to DVD recorder, but can't get setup menu to come up on tv screen. I had a similar problem. I have a HD tv connected to a digital cable box. I hooked up the DVD recorder with the wires it came with, but it would not play or give me the menu. However it was correctly hooked up. So the next day I connected a HDMI wire from the DVD recorder to the tv and everything works now.

Connection cord problem from VR375 to TV set?

Page 18 of the user manual for your device shows that there are normal video (yellow) and audio (red/white) connectors underneath the A/V out column of connectors - Since your son's TV does not have an HDMI cable (all you would need if that were the case) make sure you connect the A/V out column to the RCA type inputs of your son's TV.

The manual can be found here:
