My optorite dvd rw dd0201 does not work

I got an optorite dvd rw dd0201 burner. in "my computer" it detects the burner but when i put a cd or a dvd it it does not read it. it does not even detects a cd or a dvd in the drive. please help me with this

I want to burn music, however it states that I only have a DVD burner. Is there anything I can do so that I can burn music?

When I put a movie in it changes from DVD-RW Drive to CD drive by itself, and often freezes up and I have to shut down completely

It would help if you posted more information on your computer setup (Operating System, Video Card, CPU, RAM, etc.) This will help us to solve your problem.
Try reinstalling the drivers. If that doesn't work, right click "My Computer" and click "Manage", after that go to "Device Manager" and look for items with a "?" next to them.

I installed this cd-rw burner on a dell. the computer reads the cd-rw burner but doesn't read a cd

If it is a brand-new CD-RW device, it could be defective -- try it in a different computer, or exercise the WARRANTY to get it replaced.

My Optorite DD0405 will not burn a DVD+R DL disk? is this because its not supported by the burner? I have Nero 9 and would like to burn 4.8 GB of a file from my desk top to a DVD DL with 8.5 GB space. How can I do this
