All software was successfully installed to a PC running Windows 2000 Service Pack IV. When I tried to run Music Studio 12 DeLuxe, the screen said it was checking my CD and DVD drives and then asked me to insert the original disk which, I assume, means the DVD-ROM from which it was installed. I did as asked but the program would not recognise the disk and would not run. However, Music Maker Silver and Photo Manager - installed from the same disk at the same time worked perfectly
Well if its asking for software intallation dvd then it might be that there is crack in the dvd which you need to copy and paste in your installation directory and if it is asking for some file that is windows if missing then u need to insert windows cd!!hey tell me one thing that your dvd is orginal or you are using pirated cd for installation because then this crack thing comes in!!
Is it really asking you for ur software installation CD?
Most probably it may be asking you for your Operating System Installation CD. Please insert the Windows 2000 SP4 CD into the drive and try continuing with the installation

Magix Music Maker 12 only works on the follwoing Windows 2000 / Vista / XP. You need to purchase Magix Music Maker 16 or 17 to get support for Windows 7.
If a program cannot be run under Windows 7 because of compatibility issues, which is the case with Magix Music Studio 12 Deluxe, you have to right click on the executable file that will install the application and click Properties. Select Compatibility tab and check the Windows version you know the program worked with before (probably Windows XP).
You will have to do the same thing for the application start program after installation.
You can find more about this Compatibility issue on Microsoft website: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-AU/windows-vista/Make-older-programs-run-in-this-version-of-Windows
try right clicking on the shortcut for your program and clicking properties, then click on compatability and choose run in compatability for windows xp sp2
if that doesnt work then you might need to look at magix for any updates
First you need to find out if your CD-R is showing up in device manager correctly and is displayed in My Computer, if not then you need to uninstall and reinstall it and also make sure that your program is compatible with Windows 7.
