I have an acer 3610 and don't seem to be able to open the dvd drive - when I open manually by using a opened paperclip!!! and put a disc that doesn't play either - do you think my whole drive has just gone - its only about 2 yrs old.......many thanks

You can usually open a stuck disc drive bay with a paperclip. Look at your drive and check whether it has a small hole (see pic), it is usually near the button. Open the paperclip to give you a small prodding device. Place the paperclip into the hole and gently push until the door opens. Hope it works

CD/DVD drive?

Some have a tiny hole, right under the tray that comes out. Use a paperclip in the hole to manually open the tray.

(Some desktop computer towers have a door in front, that needs to be eased open first, then access to the actual CD/DVD drive unit can be obtained)

Dvd drive is flashing and wont release dvd and has system locked

Turn the system off completely even if you have to unplug it. Then use a paperclip or equivalent to open the drive through the manual access hole. This is the tiny hole on the front of the tray that will open the drive when the system is off. Remove the disk and restart the system. Don't use that disc. Hope this helps

MY id58 GATEWAY DVD PLAYER, i cant insert a disc because blocked by the mechanism eventhough there is no disc inside.

There is a small hole on the front of the drive. Use a paperclip or a safety pin in the hole to push open the disc try enough to pull it open the rest of the way with your hand. Insert the disc, press the button on the drive to close the bay. If the tray doesn't close gently push the tray back in. If no lights blink on the front of the drive, the drive may be unplugged or has gone bad.

Acer laptop disc drive not opening w/ btn or paperclip

Turn the computer off.

Gently push the paperclip in until you feel some resistance.

Then, with a more-firm pressure, push it another 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch -- the mechanism should "unlock" the tray, and it should open, just very slightly.

Then, the tray can be grabbed, and gently pulled open, to its full range of motion.

I have got a disc stuck in my acer L100,is there anyway to get it out.

there will be a small hole below the cd drawer, insert a straightened paperclip and drawer will open slightly pull all way open, remove disc and use button to close again.

If it happens again it could be a sign of fault in cd unit.

LaCie DVD RW won't open

use a paperclip and manually eject the disc....recycle the unit, power it off then wait then power it back on and it should be seen be available again i hope this works for you ps put paperclip into tiny hole in front of disc drive....thx

For the price of a new drive, I would replace it. This is assuming that it was working in this machine before. You should also try to open it with the button on the front, but use it as the system is booting. It is possible that the problem is in your PC/ operating system.

You will have to replace your drive, on a laptop it's not hard, there will either be a small screw under the laptop or a release on the side with the drive. You should not have to mess with any connections or cables. DVD/Bluray drives tend to go out more due to the heavier heads (and cheap manufacturing...)

Cd/Drive is dead, try use a Asus CD/DVD drive has always support.Acer dont have.(thats why is cheap)
