I can't get a connection

My husband installed the trednet tew-452brp and it is not working. It says it's running and connected but my wii isn't picking it up..... We are all new at this router thing. We really have NO idea what we are doing! We tried calling trednet customer support and they told us they would call us right back to help and the never did! Any suggestions on what we did wrong?

Wan and All LAN led bulbs are continuously on- Router not working

Straighten a Norwegian paper-clip, and insert one end into the small hole in the back of the router, to "reset" the router to its "factory" settings.

Or, spend $50, and replace the router.

Slow outgoing internet

I would suggest checking in the router's admin panel. (Typical accessed by typing 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 into your address bar on your web browser. Type your password (if you do not know it check your owners manual for the default) and check to see if you have any firewall or port restrictions set.

Low outgoing internet

If you are experiencing slow speed while connected to a router, there are a number of things that can cause that problem.

If its the router causing the problem it could be a bad router, or a setting on the router.

1.) first thing i would do is a traceroute to google.com so from a command prompt type tracert google.com and see if your few hops are high. if they are when the router is connected but not high when the router is disconnected, then we know its something with the router.

log into the router's configuration.
2.) on some models you can change the MTU size.
3.) make sure your not filtering any ports that you need such as 110, 25

start with those 3 steps and let me know how that goes.

Trednet Access Point keeps dropping Network connection

Trednets are know to do this if you have another wireless component close or next to the device. Do you have any 2.4ghz phones? Cell phones? Other wireless devices? If you have not tried yet, Try switching the channel on the access point. If its not a channel issue, try getting new firmware and test the signal strenth with a wireless sniffer such as Net Stumbler
