New Kodak EasyShare 5100 will not print!

I have a new Kodak EasyShare 5100 that will not print. I have installed new firmware, installed the software from both the website and the CD, and used the Kodak clear install utility with no luck. I get the "spooling" status window and the on/off light blinks as if it's going to print. After about 30 seconds I get a "printer not responding" window and the light stops blinking. This process will repeat on its own until I cancel the print.

I am running Windows XP Pro SP2. I have tried different cables with no luck. I have also tried other printers in the same USB port and they work fine.

Furthermore I have successfully installed the printer on my notebook computer and it worked flawlessly. There is obviously something with the software on my desktop that is hindering the printer.

My problem is that my 5100 will not print pdf files - although it did once! It just sticks at the spooling stage, It will print Eudora e-mails and Word documents well. I am using the Foxit pdf Reader 2.0. I will install Adobe and see if that solves the problem.

About once a week I get an error message that the printer is not responding. Then I delete the installation and reinstall the printer. After I do that the printer will work again for about a week.

There is obviously something wrong with the Kodak software.

You might have to reformat your hard drive as there is something in your OS that is hindering the printing.

Printer will not print in black. I do not use the Kodak EasyShare 5100 very often, and the black ink will not print, despite fitting a new cartridge.

Try reinstalling the software. If you are using the disc it came with make sure you check web installation. Do not plug in printer until told to do so.
