This sounds like an impact injury to the screen itself. It is likely that something may have hit the screen or if the set is old, the part inside may be starting to go.

When i play a tape it shows horizontal stripes on screen
Does it do it to an external monitor as well? If so clean the head with a cleaning tape once or twice or get it cleaned at a local camera store. If not then it is most likely a defect with the camcorder lcd itself.

yes it can be fixed! , it is not the screen , so that it good news for you!
just call your local repair shop , and if you have a warranty then use that and they should come out to your house to do the repair , but they may have to take it in, just depends on what they find and if it would be easier to have it in for testing

Flyback lines? Is the picture all white with no brightness control with faint horizontal faint lines? If this is what you are saying, the screen voltage could be bad, and if thats the case, the picture tube or the flyback itself could be bad. You could also have a bad connection on the crt socket
