Question about Mitsubishi VS-50611 50" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Mitsubishi 50 in tv model # VS-5061

Television works fine when first turned on , then after about 5 min the screen turns to a yellow, blue color and images have shadows ( kind of double image)
Then it will go back to normal, to a nice sharp image and then start all over again. Any help would be appreciated. I do have a service manual and a little experience with electronics.

Checked the circuit boards and found them to be dirty with an oily sticky residue. Cleaned them off with electric motor cleaning spray.
re-soldered all soldering joints on the CRT pc boards. Television is still not working properly. After a couple of minutes after turning it on, one side (the right) is perfect the (left side) has a yelow blue shadow. THis is intermitant. Will check the CRT boards to see if there is any residue on them. Any more advise would be greatly appreciated. thanks

I have this Mitsubishi 5061 tv. It has a weird problem. When I first turn on the tv the picture kind of has a fish bowl effect going on. The top and the bottom are curved outward. But if I leave the tv on for a few hours it fixes itself. Does anyone have any idea what is going on and how to fix it with out having to pay a repairman a couple hundred dollars to fix it?

First of all check the circuit boards to see if ant CRT coolant has bee leaking on them. A strong flashlight will work best to spot it. It will usually appear on the front half of the boards nearest to the screen,. Mitsubishi has had some issue with CRT leakage. Also check for solder cracks around the Convergence amp ICs. Let me know what you discover, or if you need anything more.

you have probably got some solder corrosion issues due to the coolant leaking onto them. resolder everything that had the crt coolant on the.especially the diodes and capacitors. You will also need to replenish the coolant levels after repairing the seals on the CRTs that were leaking.

Mitsubishi vs 5043

I turned the set on and everything was fine, then the screen went black and mullti-colored horizontal (arched) lines were flashing across the screen. The next day I turned the set on and everything was fine for about 5 minutes then the problem reoccures again. Haven't looked for solutions till now.

Your problem most likely is on the signal board is my guess. If your not a technician it would be in your best interest to have him check L2C60 on the signal board.

Mitsubishi vs-5051

First you can safely take off back and look for Screen controls&Focus, Gently turn up the 3 screen controls this will add light to picture, but you need to evenly turn up, the 3 colors are red, blue, green. the other 3 knobs are for focus. Do not turn them if you do you will need to realign the focus also. And if this doesn't help then there is a high voltage capacitor leaky in the flyback area.
