SOURCE: macbook air internal mic not working

This is a known issue with some of the Macbook Airs - you should bring the machine to an Apple store, or open a case at apple.com
They may be able to repair/replace at no cost, depending on how old the machine is.
Hope this helps, and good luck!

Can not get audio input

If you have a first generation Macbook Air, there is no line-in nor microphone jack on this model of Macbook Air. On the latest Macbook Air models, you can use the Apple earbuds that have a build-in mic in them for a mic; otherwise, you'll have to use some kinds of USB audio adapter.

Microsoft Office needs to be compatible with the external microphone. Just because your MacBook recognizes the mic through the adapter doesn't mean OneNote does.

Microphone issues macbook air, cannot get it to work. shows it is there and not muted....but no sound is registering on meter or when i try it.

hello , your problem, maybe simple, I would say for example, there is a little cable that connect the mic to logic board, or in worst case you mic is damaged from intern. I think that the best thing that you can do is bring you macbook air and go to an apple store. you can buy some microphone on usb if u want

Trust headset HS2900 suitable for apple macbook?

On the MacBook there is no microphone port, if you look closely, it is not a microphone plug, it is a line in plug. Line in cannot record sounds from a microphone without amplification. What I would recommend doing is purchasing this adapter: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812186035&cm_re=usb_audio-_-12-186-035-_-Product- With this adapter, you plug your headset and mic into it and then it plugs into the USB port on your MacBook. Then you can just unplug it from the USB port when you are done.

My macbook air think that there is a headphone in there

An alternative way is always try to repair it yourself. There are Mac Repair Guides that show how to open an Macbook. Watch out for the ribbon cables, those tear easily. Replacement parts are usually available on Ebay. There are third party services that can do it for you, like Mac Repair NYC.
