Aargh! I keep trying to get this thing off, but it just won't budge. I see the slot on the rt, and have tried to pry the cover off by following the above instructions, but I just can't do it. I am afraid I'll break the cover in the process of all this prying with the screwdriver.

If this is a rounded cover you need to use a flat blade screwdriver. Make sure the screw is out on the lt side, then insert the screwdriver on the rt side where you see the tab/slot. gently press the screwdriver to the rt to pry the cover out. The chopper will come out easily, going back in is tricky. Use a 1/2 inch open end wrench, compress the spring and insert the wrench between the blade and the screen, then put the chopper back in.

Hello: I have a Kenmore Elite diswasher Model #665-16264402. It will not clean the dishes on the top rack much at all. To be honest it's not cleaning well on top or bottom! It has a built in filter,...

Hi, Colleen. Thanks for using fixya.com. I suspect the chopper may be plugged which would cause poor circulation and poor washing results. The chopper is located in the sump housing assembly and is #6 in the picture below. It is accessed by removing the lower spray arm and the filter assembly. Disassembly requires a T10 and T15 Torx screwdriver. Once disassembled, use the picture as a guide for locating the chopper and clean or replace as necessary. Part number is 8268383 and is available at www.appliancezone.com.

Top tray of Kenmore Quietguard3 dishwasher not cleaning!

The top rack is not cleaning because of low water pressure from the wash motor to the upper spray arm.
Assuming the top spray arms are clear of debris, remove the lower spray arm and lower feed tube to access the wash motor. Remove the 4 torx screws and the filter (accumulator assembly). Remove the torx screw and the inlet protector that covers the chopper assembly. Make sure the chopper is not broken (broken chopper will fill with debris and block water flow). While holding the chopper blade, reach inside the "D" shaped opening on top of the motor and spin the wheel/motor by hand in each direction to make sure either the chopper gear or the motor gear that drives the chopper is not broken. Replace the chopper if necessary (part # 8268383). If the motor gear is broken, replace the sump and motor assembly (part # 8535150). Remove any debris from the sump area in the process.
You don't have to shut the power off to the dishwasher because the door will be open, but if you feel more comfortable, do so.
Good luck!

How do i remove cover on food chopper? kenmore 665 the problem is top shelf dishes not getting clean. looking to clean out bottom area, thanks

Hold the lower spray arm hub (plastic bolt spray arm connects to) and turn the lower spray arm counter clockwise to remove it.
Using a torx bit, remove the 4 screws and the top cover. Remove the screws for the lower cover and the chopper cover. Insert a flat screwdriver it into the clip of the chopper cover to pull it up easier.
Unless there are alot of "foreign objects" in that area, be prepared to replace the chopper, the motor and/or sump assembly.

Kenmore Dishwasher 665.15789300 not washing, but gets water

The chopper blade assembly with in the pump housing is either clogged or broken, to get to it, you must remove spray arm and remove screws from filter housing. These are size 20 torx, inside sump are 2 more screws size 15 torx, after these are removed you can clean out chopper or replace it.

I have a kenmore 665 dishwasher where the spary arms do not spin.

  • First, check water level. Start machine, wait until the machine begins main wash. Open the door, the water level should be just below the heater element. If too low replace inlet valve.
  • If you can't hear the wash motor running or is just humming, the motor may be bad.
  • To check if the food chopper is blocked or broken;
  1. Remove lower spray arm by holding the arm and rotating the spray arm retainer.
  2. In the back of the tub, unclip or remove the screw from the upper spray arm supply tube.
  3. Rotate the lower spray arm support to the right while disconnecting the supply tube from it.
  4. Remove the four torx screws from the sump cover, remove assembly.
  5. There may be a primary filter in the left side of the sump, if so, remove the torx screw and the filter.
  6. On the right side there is the chopper assembly cover. Remove the torx screw and cover to expose the chopper.

Hope everything goes well for you,

Regards

Richard

Dishwasher spray arms don't spin & spray water

Could be a a couple different issues.. Not filling with enough water or food chopper broke or food chopper filter screen clogged.

Check water level:
Run the DW and wait for the main wash to start (water will fill. pause then complete fill) The water should be no more than 1/4 inch below the heating element. If not there..replace water inlet valve.

Inspect food chopper:
1. Remove lower spray arm and rear water supply tube to upper spray arm.
2. Remove torx screws that secure the sump cover.
3. Remove primary filter
4. Remove food chopper cover to expose the chopper assembly. Inspect for breakage or blockage.

Kenmore 655 ultra wash built in dishwasher

Possible problem is that the chopper/cutter filter is plugged. This prevents water circulation and therefor no water is available for cleaning.
Solution:
Remove the dish baskets.
Remove the bottom cleaning arm - Rotate the centre post and the arm can then be removed.
Remove the conduit that feeds the upper arm(s) - Remove screws, one at the back and one at the top. Rotate the whole assembly 45 deg right and lift off of the centre post.
Remove 4 screws in the plastic assembly and lift it off of the centre.
Remove 1 screw at left front (Under assembly just removed). Lift off the plastic cap which covers the cutter/chopper. Remove the chopper. It is on a spring loaded pin. Pull the cutter foreword while lifting the filter disc straight up. Thoroughly clean the filter disc - a knife will be req'd to scrape in clean.
Reassemble in reverse to the disassembly steps.
