By connecting the camera to a computer with the provided USB cable,
images on a card can be transferred to the computer. Some OS's (operating
systems) may need a special setup when connecting to the camera for the
first time. Follow the chart below. For details on the procedures in the chart,
refer to the “Reference Manual” on the CD-ROM and the “Software
Installation Guide” (included in the CD-ROM package).
Identifying the OS
Windows 98/98 SE
(Second Edition)
Windows 2000
Professional/Me/XP
Mac OS 9.0 - 9.1/OS X
*OS 8.6: See below.

Connecting the camera to a computer using the provided USB cable
Installing the USB
driver for Windows 98
Confirming the computer recognizes the camera
Downloading image files
Disconnecting the USB cable

Even if your computer has a USB connector, data transfer may not function correctly if
you are using one of the operating systems listed below or if you have an add-on USB
connector (extension card, etc.).
● Windows 95/NT 4.0
● Windows 98/98 SE upgrade from Windows 95
● Mac OS 8.6 or lower (except Mac OS 8.6 equipped with USB MASS Storage support
1.3.5 installed at the factory)
● Data transfer is not guaranteed on a home-built PC system or PCs with no factory
installed OS.
You can view images using: graphics applications that support the JPEG
file format (Paint Shop Pro, Photoshop, etc.); Internet browsers (Netscape
Communicator, Microsoft Internet Explorer, etc.); CAMEDIA Master
software; or other software. For details on using commercial graphics
applications, refer to their instruction manuals.

according to your manual your camera is not compatible with vista. I suggest that use a card reader/writer and insert your memory card in. and plug to the computer to transfer files and pictures from camera. ok.

    this would help you

You need to install the correct software on your computer. They are usually called drivers. Here is a link to the Canon Rebel Xt page from Canon with all sorts of goodies you can download. The most important section to get things going for you is the drivers. Select your OS from the drop down list, download and install. If you don't have drivers your PC or Mac doesnt recognize the fine piece of hardware... your camera. Hit me up if you're still stuck.

Downloading photos

If you are using Windows XP unplug your camera from your PC and uninstall the Kodak software. You don't need it to transfer photos to your PC. The next time you connect your camera (turn the camera on) to your computer it should recognize it and you can use Windows built in transfer software. Details are here:http://www.organizepictures.com/2006/11/5-easy-steps-to-transfer-your-pictures-using-windows-xp-photo-wizard

Cannot download photos from Olympus FE-280

Connect Olympus camera to laptop with USB cable provided, turn the camera on and open "Computer" in Window explorer or Computer. You should see the new removable disk, click on it and you will probably see one subdirectory and one sub-sub drectory, something like 100OLYMP, open it up and you should see jpg files in your camera. The light will blink for some time and then stop. You should then be able to select the files and transfer them to your folder on the hard drive.

When you first turn on the camera you could check to see in Device Manager, under Portable Devices, if your camera is recognized and whether everything is OK with your driver.

If you have a card reader you can also try to read the card from the laptop.

Hope it works!

Olympus C-3000 download Help

I also have a c-3000 zoom and tried to use it with my vista laptop for the first time (worked fine for years on xp with the software). I got an error message saying something along the lines of "Your camera is too old to work with Vista" (not the exact wording). I bought an external card reader, and you should probably do the same.
