Canon i560s prints all colors except black

I recently replaced all cartridges in my Canon i560s. All colors work fine except black is a problem:
The printer does print grey and black shaded boxes and something like the frames of letters and numbers (so there is black ink flowing) but no bold black is printed.
Any ideas?
Thanks very much in advance
Alexander

I had a similar problem and found out that you have to specify printing on plain paper. If you choose paper other than plain paper, it will make the black from other colors. Check also that all of your cartridges are seated properly. My magenta was not pushed all the way down so I got green instead of black ink when it mixed the colors to make black.

If black cartridge doesnt work, the printer brins up black by comination of all 3 colours, but with no such good contrast, exactly as you describe.

The malfunction of black colour can have many reasons (like cartridge problem, printhead problem or electrical contacts problem in the printer, etc) so if you use Canon genuine cartridges ask a service to identify the problem, fact is that black dont work at all in your printer.

Color

Recheck the placement of the ink cartridges. The black ink cartridge is larger; the cyan, magenta, yellow cartridges are all the same size.

When the ink cartridges were replaced, two or more may have been inadvertently switched or an extra yellow cartridge placed in.

I have now found the solution elsewhere in the internet: black text only prints on the Canon i560 if selct "normal paper", but not,for instance, if you have "professional photo-paper" selected.

Prints black on test page, but not when a job is sent to the printer

make all your printer settings to default. If any problem in that simply uninstall & re-install the driver.

If still no good, your black cartridge might have dried-up

Lost B&W printing

Hi marc, it sounds like the normal clean has not eliminated the clog you may have in back printhead. I need to know if you refil your own cartridges or not to be specific, but basically you need to remove the black ink cartridge, and clean the printers heads yourself, and right down where cartridge sits wth cotton buds and proper cleaning solution. Wipe the surface of cartridge if it has the printhead attatched (some printers have the printhead on them, some have it on the cartridge. Replace ink, reset black ink level, cancel the alignment for now, go straight to printing. Print a test page and see how it goes.
