Inspiron 6000 lcd failure

Hi. thanks for accept me. I saw you post info for this issue.
I did pull out lcd, cable and back cover. but no clue what is wrong. nothing is loose or broken.
yet I did plug a Dlp projector and view is perfect. so I gues video card and mobo are ok.
the failure started with an horizontal hairline on the upper screen hardly noticeable, but it has been growing , now is about 2 inches of several lines.
so I have no clue if I need to replace either: cable, lcd or the inverter.
how I can know wich one is?
Got picture if you want to see it snd me your email
Best regards!

It sounds like from my experience that the issues is with the cable. Either somehow the cable is loose or it is broken. I do not think it is the LCD or the inverter. Try unplugging the cable or moving it around see if that will make any change. They are kind of fragile. They are not expensive to replace but it is not easy job to replace them.

Hi , my dell inspiron 6400 vista has no disply but external monitor it shows fine ?

If the external monitor is fine then there might be the issue with the display panel cable ( cable which connects mainboard with display) or the display itself. Ypou will have to replace.

Keyboard pin on my dell inspiron 6000 motherboard was broken

If you are not able to get past POST, then you may not be able to get usb board to recognize or able to install it. You may end up having to get new motherboard. You can try to boot up with new keyboard, but chances are slim that it will work since pc tries to use default keyboard.

The short DST test is generally the failure of the HDD,It would giive you code next to it , that would something like 1000-0146,or 1000-0141 etc. Do give that code and I would let you know the exact failure

Half a Screen

Check first by connecting it to an external monitor. If you see that it is the same problem in the external monitor then I think there is something wrong with your video card. See if you can re seat the video card.

This issues also come from the cable that connects the LCD with the motherboard. Have you opened the Laptop anytime and moved the cable?

Check these first. It sounds something loose or a something related to video card.
