Trying to add temporary code to craftsman keypad for Sears garage door opener.

I've followed instructions to add a temporary code (for our housekeeper) to my Craftsman keypad, but the unit just flashes and doesn't accept the temporary number. is there anything that i need to do to the actual garage door opener to add a temporary code? If that's the case, my wife will NEVER be able to manage the addition of the temporary code on a weekly basis. Anyone have advice on how to handle this? Thanks.

Tried to reprogram security code for outdoor key pad on 1/2hp craftsman garage door opener according to instructions online, pressed learn button- put in new 4 digit code-held enter. Lights did not flash...

Seems you've done everything right. Press and immediately release the smart/learn button and then walk over and key in a 4 digit code and press enter. If you are sure the battery in the keypad is good then I think your keypad is on the fritz or the wrong one for that opener.

I have a Sears Craftsman garage door opener - model # 139.18876 My kids have somehow managed to change the code to to keypad and I need to reprogram it, and I have NO idea how.

I'm not supposed to quote the competition:
But following link has do-it-yourself instructions for Craftsman.
I google searched: craftsman garage door keypad

Evidently yours is common problem, so if instructions work, let kids keep Christmas presents.

Trying to reset a new 4 digit code in my wireless remote Sears 139.53754 but I dont know the current code which the instructions say I need in order to reset. I tried the smart button on the motor unit...

You don't need the current code. What you need to do is press and immediately release the smart button and then walk over to your keypad and enter any 4 digit code you like. If this doesn't work your keypad is bad.

Keypad garage door opener will not operate

what keypad are you using with new opener? Frequency has changed. can't use old one. you probably never needed to change things; just needed to follow proper coding procedures.
