I have a KDS K-92MDWb, it has lines through the picture as well as the picture jumps. Can this problem be fixed or no?

Those are retrace lines from too bright a picture. If you can't get them to go away with the brightness control then a repair is necessary

This is a lamp issue. Reseat the lamp and if that does not fix, replace.

Sounds like your light engine might have broken. Its around a $400 fix and I noticed Tri-State is having a sell on there about 341 its easy to replace it here is the link

The problem is the optical block and nothing else but. Contact the dealer from which you purchased the set to see if you qualify for Sony's extended warranty on this very, very expensive part, which may be covered by a class action lawsuit Check here http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/news-item.pl?news_id=367&mdl=KDS60A2020 The lawsuit covers all the KDS models. It seems that Sony continued making these rear projections even though it knew the optical block failed prematurely. When you get it fixed, go to setup and make sure the cooling fan is on HIGH and power saving is ON. Both of those features will extend your TV's life, including the optical block and the projection lamp. Further, bring a portable compressed air tank to the TV and, with a narrow nozzle, empty it into every opening in the set's back. At least once per month, check for dust settling on the rear of the stand behind the TV -- when it gets thick, get the air tank.

brendadeese, You might be able to repair it. Well your husband or boyfriend maybe. If good with a soldering iron, solder-wick, solder, and $5-$12 in new filter capacitors. You should have visited YOUTUBE for video clips of "LCD monitor disassembly"and "LCD monitor repair" to see just what is involved with making BLACK SCREEN of DEATH go away. Most LCD monitors (98%) use same basic backlighting technology. Here are some repair options for you to ponder over! A. If KDS has a swapout program for BSoD units try it first! B. Contract out the REFURBISHMENT work to reputable local firm that knows exactly what is needed to do the work properly. C. Trade in for new unit. But remember that the tech in the back of the store is going to repair your unit with a little luck and have a nice monitor to give to his kids on Christmas, and won"t need to do it again till Christmas 2011 or 12. i have very same problem, chip is very cheap.....its just the cost of repairman that wont be cheap.
