Welcome to Fixya. To access the router page you need a working computer that is connected to the router. To access your router you need to use a computer that is connected to it. Open a Browser then type 192.168.2.1 The Default password is smcadmin. Password is case sensitive. Click on Wireless and then select Security. You can now change the security settings of your router. You can also refer to the manual below.
You need to log into the wireless router either by a computer that successfully connects wirelessly or by physically connecting with an ethernet cable. Once connected, log into the router by open a web browser (Internet Explorer, MozillaFirefox, Google Chrome, Apple Safari), and typing the router's address (usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1) into the Address (or URL) line. The default usernameand password is usually "admin" & "admin" or "admin" & "password". Once successfully logged in, look for a tab or link that says "Wireless" or "Security". You'll be able to change whether security is enabled or disabled, and the password associated with it. Your security options are WEP or WPA (or WPA-PSK). WPA-PSK is the most secure, but WEP is also an acceptable choice. Select the security option of your choice and either enter text into the passphrase generator or choose your own password and type it into one of the security key text fields. If you use a password that is not a plain english combination of letters and numbers, be sure to write it down so that you can enter it as needed on other wireless devices that need to access your router (ie-pda phones, game consoles, laptops, desktops, etc). Be sure to save changes so that the security settings and password is saved. Let me know how you make out.
In the routers web-interface -> click on login (password would be either 'blank' or 'smcadmin') -> home network settings -> WAN -> Static IP -> more configuration -> enter the following values that have been provided by your ISP:
* IP Address
* Subnet Mask
* Default Gateway
* DNS numbers
In the routers web-interface -> click on login (password would be either 'blank' or 'smcadmin') -> home network settings -> WAN -> PPPoE -> more configuration -> enter the following values:
* Type in the username and password that have been provided by your ISP.
* Set MTU = 1440.
* Set maximum idle time to zero.
In the routers web-interface, click on login (password would be either 'blank' or 'smcadmin') -> Home network settings -> click on WAN settings -> Dynamic IP address -> more configuration -> click on clone MAC address and save the settings.
To enable encryption, you need to log into the router's configuration page: Click on Login -> Advanced Setup -> Wireless -> Encryption
Think up a Hexadecimal code with the appropriate amount of characters for the level of encryption you wish to use (Hexadecimal means you can use any number between 0 and 9, and the letters A through F).
128-bit encryption uses 26 characters. Example:
01 2C 45 67 89 A0 CD EF 01 23 45 6D F9
64-bit encryption uses 10 characters. Example:
01 A3 45 F7 89
The password would be blank/admin/smcadmin by default. Blank password implies that you need to click on login without giving any input.
But, if you have set a password on your own and not able to recollect it, try resetting the router.
In the routers web interface -> Click on login (password would be either blank or smcadmin) -> Advanced setup -> WAN -> PPPoE -> Enter the following values:
* Type in the Username and the password provided by your ISP.
* Set MTU = 1440.
* Set maximum idle time to zero.
* Save the settings.
