Before I begin, I must state that my expertise is limited because of the small amount of details you have provided. I will post my best solution now, but please show more detail in the future.

I am assuming if the iPod touch is new, it is a 3G (third generation, not to be confused with the 3G data network). Either way, my solution would be about the same for the 1G, 2G, or 3G. I own a 2G right now.

The "only open for a second" problem is called "crashing". The fact that it is crashing could mean that you need the most security, available in Apple's latest software updates. Please try to download the latest update by reading the below instructions:

If you haven't already, please download and install the latest version of iTunes from www.apple.com/itunes . Then, plug your iPod into the computer via the USB cord that came with the iPod. After iTunes and your computer both recognize it, click on your iPod in iTunes. Then click Check for Software Update to download and install the latest iPod touch software directly from Apple for the most security.

Cheers and good luck,

DMKlunk

New downloaded apps wont work

Try removing that app from your iPod, then download it again from the App Store (free re-downloads) or if it is on your computer, simply connect your iPod and upload it back onto your iPod. That always works for me.

I'll delete an app, hook it to my computer, unhook, and it's back

go into itunes and click on applications in the left column.
find the pesky app and delete it by right clicking and delete.
also you can go to the summary bar and and applications.
find the app and sync with it unchecked.

Hope this helps.

My iTouch is disabled but my dad deleted my iTunes off my laptop:

if your father deleted your song library then you will have to download your music again.
same with your apps
if your restore all that will do is load a new copy of your ipod software in the ipod.
it won't help with getting your songs back
it will help with removing the password lock.

New itouch 32 gig. All downloaded apps stop

Try turning off your ipod after installing a new app. Hold down the sleep/wake button on the top for 6 seconds, then slide accross to power off when prompted.

Otherwise, if that doesn't work, try restoring the update. Make sure you have the latest version of itunes, which you can get at www.apple.com/itunes.

Then make sure you have the latest firmware version for the ipod.

If all that doesn't fix your problem, try to restore your ipod via DFU mode. Here is a great step by step guide to do that. http://iphonefreakz.com/beginners-guide/howto-dfu-mode/

I hope this helps,

Nathan.

ps. keep in mind, that it could be bad programing if it is only happening on one application.

Itouch applications won't turn on.

I had exactly the same problem, you have to sync them on itunes. Plug in your itouch, open itunes and make sure it is the version with an applications section in the libary. Then click on your itouch in Devices go to the end applications tab and you have to sync them. This worked for me.

Downloading applications to ipod touch

Hi,   The easiest way to download to your iTouch is directly to your iTouch via the Apple Store. The Apple Store icon is already on your iTouch. Just make sure you are near an internet connection via Airport or Wi Fi. Click on "Download" on the selected app, and then wait a couple of seconds. Your iTouch will indicate when the download is done and the app is installed. You will see the new icon on your your screen page.
If you install from your computer, you will have to plug your iTouch into the computer and use the  iTunes app to control what you download.
I hope that helps.   Shari Dyer
