I have a HP pavilion 6511 pc and the video card is not working, is it built in?and if so can I buy another and put it straight into a slot on the mother board

It looks like you will be able to purchase just the ATI video controller for this machine - the part number for your machine is :-

P/N: 336970-001
DESC: ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9200 (M9+P) graphics controller - With 64Mb of double data rate (DDR) SDRAM memory

I would still recommend getting this machine opened up and double checking the part number etc as they do occasionally revise parts that aren't 100% interchangeable.

Your desktop has integrated video. You cannot replace it, but you can buy an expansion card and install it. Your pc should have 2 free PCI slots for this. Unless you have installed something else. Just get a PCI video card.

If you need drivers, they are available at the hp website, if your computer really doesn't have a sound card or a video card then you would need to buy them from a shop and install them inside the computer, one shop for example is www.newegg.com

If you have the devices then you need the drivers instead not something to put inside your computer.

How to replace ethernet card on hp pavilion a706n, it looks like it is built in to the motherboard, can I just buy a replacement and put in one of the empty slots??
It is buillt in however if you have a spare PCI slot on the motherboard you could fit another ethernet card which would override the built in one.
