Sound without picture unit did not go thru auto set up input will not display

auto mute on an A/V receiver amp usually is an indication that the video input is not present on the selected input jack , this is done so that if video device is shut off for any reason the amp does not send out "white noise" thru speakers and could damage them if loud enough

Try lowering your source input like DVD or playstation video display settings to a lower setting. Try a higher qualty HDMI cable.

Last the HDMI input port might be faulty

If the set has sound the power and the input section seems good and the fault seems centric to the screen drive. You need to check the board for faulty dry connections, failure of the drive section to the display unit.
It is also possible that the loss of picture can be related to fault in the Y processor and so the board can be swapped to confirm. take consensus and proceed only if equipped to test and confirm this section without trying to replace the board without a confirmation.

check the input selection on the tv make sure it is set to the correct one that you have connected.

also give it a few second at each input to pick up signal and display.

if you cycle thru them all and there is still no picture check the devise you have connected to it and try to connect another device to a different input.

if you can get nothing to work on any correctly connected input , i would look into the retailers return policy

If your TV has an HDMI input, hook up the PS3 w/an HDMI cable to the TV. This will give you a high def picture (set up the PS3 to output the max resolution your TV displays). That will take care of the video side.

Next hook up an optical cable from the PS3 to the receiver. In the PS3 menu, you have to change the audio settings to output the sound via the optical cable.

Finally to get sound out of the receiver to the speakers, you have to setup the receiver source input. For example if you setup the PS3 to play thru "VCR" input, then you have to make sure the VCR input is setup to use either optical 1 or optical 2 for sound (whichever one you have the optical cable plugged in from the PS3).

• I found this solution on a different site... it worked for me. I needed to change the sound settings in my ps3 to optical... then i selected dolby 5.1.... that took care of my sound.
  

look for a hdmi input via the menu/ video /source button on the remote.[different manufactuers list them differently] if you have multiple input selections on the display,scroll thru each one,wait 2or3 seconds between each input and see if your picture comes on.also check the hdmi connection

The hdmi inputs on this unit go directly thru the main digital pcb. and the component inputs feed thru the av pcb then to the main pcb. If the composit hook up do not work and hdmi inputs do work the unit has a bad AV pcb.

I had the same problem,. I when in to settings on my dvd player while the dvd disk was on stop mode, (by pushing display buttom in remot.) in settings I activated sound and better picture by choosing componet. hope this help....resolution (set your dvd righ not your tv.)
