If it is right along the edge then the drum (well the cleaning blade of the drum) is faulty. In a unit like that I suspect it is all part of a toner cartridge. Try replacing that and I think you will be good.

SOURCE: When printing it puts black

try to wipe the rollers using cotton swab or smoot cotton cloth or something similar to clean the ink from them. then make sure to use the correct paper type and printing option. you may also need to run the ink cartridge cleaning maintenance service on it and see how it goes.

SOURCE: black smudges on printed page

Are you sure this is a Designjet 450 (large format printer) and not a Deskjet 450 (portable printer)? The following assumes you have wispy black streaking on the printed side of the paper. If the streaking is on the back side then post more details of the printer model and the issue.

In either case the most likely cause is a buildup of fibers on the underside of the printheads or carriage, causing wisps of black ink to be dragged on the paper when the carriage reverses direction. You can clean the printer as shown at the following (though the details will be somewhat different for the Designjet or Deskjet....).

SOURCE: There are black ink smudges on the bottom corners

The R2400 has an option to load paper on-top (Epson calls it the Automatic Document Feeder) and at the back. Based on the printer's User Guide the Velvet Fineart Paper should be loaded at the back. (Epson called is the Manual Single Sheet Feed).

Look at the User's Guide availabe on their website.

Testimonial: "This was helpful. Even though I was already using the recommended back feeder, you inspired me to try the very back feeder."

SOURCE: Ink smudging off paper

It means that the fuser is not hot enough to bond the toner to the paper. You should open the rear door and see if a paper has wrapped around the fuser roller, as when the temp is actually too cool it will shut down the printer. Photo paper is also too thick to be used in this printer and you should only be using standard bond paper.

I'm trying to print wedding invitations on my Canon MP460. I'm using a cardstock thickness of paper and have set the ink levels for "Other Photo Paper" on my Mac. The paper has been going through...

Sounds like the ink isn't having time to dry and is rubbing along paper.

Paper may be too thick. If it prints OK on normal paper (test first) but not on thick card, then it doesn't support thick paper settings.
