GE Top Load Heavy Duty Washer only works for small loads

I loaded wash machine, as per usual, went back 1 hr later, most of the water had drained, but the clothes hadn't been through the rinse or spin cycle; they were soaking wet. Because I had a load of wet clothes, I washed 3 small quanties. The wash machine seemed to work, fine, clothes are clean, rinsed and spun!

PS when I approached the laundry room, initally, I could smell, a slight
burning rubber scent. No scent, since, I only wash small loads, and am keeping a close eye on the machine.

Thank You and a Happy New Year!

Sounds like you need a new drive belt.

Testimonial: "Is this drive belt difficult of change? ... Are the belts expensive? Now I know, where to start looking at least. Cheers! "

I don't know your level of expertise, but it's not too bad of a job. The belt is not very expensive either. You just have to be sure to pull the motor tight when you tighten up the nuts or the new belt will slip and burn prematurely.

My water meter says my front load Kenmore washer, model He 4t from 2016, is using 530 gallons for a heavy load. How is that possible?

On average, washing machines use 19 gallons of water per load, and the average household runs between 5 and 6 loads per week. Based on those figures, most washers use up to 5,605 gallons of water annually.
Front-load washers use an average of 12.5 gallons of water per load, while top-load washers average 19.6 gallons per load. Older top-load models manufactured decades ago use 40 or more gallons of water per load.

Possibly reading the meter incorrectly...

My 1.5" water line to fill my pool puts out 12 gallons a minute
it would take 45 minutes running full out to put out 530 gallons.

Best to you.

Spin cycle does not drain water. The washer just stops when it gets to the spin cycle. The washer is a 70 series heavy duty.

Wahing machine wont spin out with full load .will with small load

I would check to see if you have a kink in your drain hose. The timer allows the same amount of time to drain if it is a full load or a 1/2 load. If the drain hose is kinked it restricts the volume of water being drained leaving water in the tub when doing a full load.

Kenmore Heavy Duty Washer Leaking from bottom

Probably the drain pump seal has gone bad.
Check it for leaks.
If your floor is good and level look for water near the front center of the machine.

28+ year old- Speed Queen Heavy Duty top loader

It sound like you drain hose is siphoning off the rinse water, It needs a standpipe make sure the drain hose is at about the height of the top of the washer, Make sure the drain hose isnt stuck in the drain it also needs an air cap. the drain hose should not lay on the floor to run to the drain

Please let me know if this doesnt solve your problems
