Brother GX6750 typewriter correcting on wrong line

We have a Brother GX6750 typewriter.

When a user attempts to correct an incorrect character, the correction strike is the correct character, but the strike is on the line immediately BELOW the character..

I've removed and reinstalled both the cartrige and the correction ribbon. The corrrect side of the correction ribbon is facing the page. Turned off and on the typewriter. Nothing has worked so far.

Is there an adjustment for this?

Thanks,
Pat

    Thanks,

It's not the operator (me) turning the platen, so it must be the linespace mechanism. I'll check your ideas and post back with results.

It sound like either the operator is turning the roller (platen) to see where you should correct..or the linespace mechanism is turning the roller from the line of type.Perhaps the detent (by the line space selector lever is set to 0 instead of 1, 1 1/2 or 2

The line of type is important that is stays and not drifts. Tighten the platen knob if the screw in..right to tighten left to loosen.
Hope this helps

Your ribbon may be stuck check it out, buy the way I bestow the sacred order of thee nomenclatcher Maximus for bestowing the information that is actually need in great detail, you would not beleive how non- descript some people are ie My typewriter doesn't work right? After a good public flogging I may get some information out of them, well done! Bret PS, It's rare but you may have popped a drive gear with power off, and unplugged try and move the print carriage (gently) back and forth it should move with about a Pound of resistance and not catch or sound crunchy, fluid motion will tell, good luck.

I have a gx6750 correcting typewriter. The problem is, the correcting part of it does not work. I am wondering if the correctable ribbon indicates "correctable" on the cartridge or not. I am...

A correctable ribbon should be correctable. Is the ribbon being lifted up high enough to correct?
Is there any letters on the correction ribbon and is the ribbon installed correctly? Old ribbons lose their tackiness over time, try advancing the ribbon by hand to get to fresher ribbon.

Brother GX6750 Typewriter - only the top of the letters prints out. I know it's not the ribbon because the problem happens with my other ribbon too.

Is the print in the center of the ribbon? if so the platen may not be fully seated in the side frames. Remove the correction tape it may be in wrong and robbing the print.

Be sure you have a dry L/O tape (Gen. Ribbon t 355 or equiv.) if you have a sticky L/O tape it will give you all kinds of trouble.
