My Kenmore 600 is not even 2 years old. It spins and appears to have heat but the clothes do not dry. I cleaned a ton of lint from the flex pipe/elbow joint in the rear of the dryer but this has not helped. Any advice?

You are on the right track by cleaning the vent elbow.

Also check:

The entire vent line to the outside diverter (the little thing that looks like a hood). Depending on your dwelling, the vent line can also become obstructed with lint and sometimes other things like bird's nests, especially near the discharge outlet. This can happen when the flapper valve at the outlet sticks.

Make sure the lint screen is always kept clean

Another thing to try - empty the dryer and pull it away from the wall until you can get behind it. Disconnect the vent line and turn the dryer on air only. The air velocity coming out of the dryer air exhaust line should feel pretty strong. If it doesn't, the fan could be full of lint as well or there could be an issue with the exhaust fan itself. If the fan is plugged or bad, the back of the dryer will have to be removed and the fan checked.

The dryer should not be overloaded and be sure the clothes being dried aren't too wet (possibly indicating a washer spin cycle issue).

What is causing my 600 series kenmore dryer to take 2-3 cycles to dry properly?

usually it is a blocked dryer vent. some homes have the vent in the wail and up to the attic. These are the worst type the wall cavity will fill with lint and will have to cleaned out completely. or the cloths are still to wet because the spin cycle of water does not remove all the free water.

Kenmore ultra fabric dryer gets heat, spins, but will not dry the clothes and just goes and goes....help! Not interested in perma-wet clothes!

Hi,

If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have nottaken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then youneed to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should takeplace. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causesfor your dryer to fail.

We have a Kenmore 400 Series dryer. It heats up but our clothes is not getting dry. We have to cycle it twice to get our clothes dry on high heat. Any idea why it would take 2 cycles to dry?

This was the out vent of my dryer... If it gets this bad... open up the dryer housing and clean inside too. Also make sure the intake is free of lint.

Takes 3 cycles to dry clothes

This is a potentially deadly scenario. If the clothes are warm but just not getting dry, there is a problem with air flow - specifically - the lack thereof. The chance of fire is a real concern.

Make sure the lint baffle / trap is clear. This should be checked / cleared after each drying cycle. Most folks know about this, but I included it just in case this is your first dryer.

If the the baffle / trap looks clear, the exhaust tubing of the dryer is suspect. Many installations consist of the flexible / expandable hose. This hose may have become crushed during the running of the dryer, reducing air flow. Locate the hose and pull the dryer away from the wall to inspect, expand or replace the hose as needed. If an old installation, it is very possible that the hose has become clogged with lint build up over the years. The hose should be replaced in this case.

If at all possible, use aluminum expandable dryer duct. It is less likely to collect lint as quickly as the flex plastic style.

If the clothes are not warm or hot, the heat source (electric heating element or gas flame - depending on type) has a problem. Either of these problems should probably be referred to a pro for proper repair.

Drying is too slow It normally takes about 45 minutes for a dryer to dry a full load. If your dryer is taking more than an hour, check these. Vent Heating element Internal ductwork Cycling thermostat Vent Frequently there's an obstruction in the vent duct from the dryer to the outside of the house. For the dryer to heat properly, the duct must be clean and clear of lint or any other substance. Heating element Your dryer's heating element may be partially burned out. If it is, your dryer still heats, but at such a low temperature that it takes three or four times as long to dry the clothes. If the element is partially burned out, replace it. Internal ductwork Your dryer has some internal ductwork. If it gets clogged, your dryer can't dry properly. In most dryers, to get to the internal ductwork to clear the clog, you have to substantially disassemble the dryer. A quick way to check for internal clogs is to remove the lint filter and use a flashlight to inspect the inside of the duct. If it looks clogged and you can't clear it using your vacuum, contact a qualified appliance repair technician. Cycling thermostat Although this isn't a common problem, one of the thermostats that controls the temperature in your dryer may break and cause the dryer to heat poorly. If so, you need to replace it. The thermostat is usually a small, round, black device mounted to an oblong steel plate. The plate is mounted to the internal ductwork with two screws.

Dryer spins fine but no heat

First and most importantly you have to be sure the venting is completly clear of debris and lint. Then remove and inspect the heating element and all thermostats with a multi-meter. Unless your familiar with this type of procedure you might consider calling a technician. Your wasting too much energy and money drying clothes for 2 hours. Technician much cheaper in long run. Good Luck tatau.
