What i would recommend you go to do is to format your device using the windows media player and then do a firmware upgrade on the device..the problem you are experiencing right now is because your firmware is corrupted..once you do that should be able to use your device without any problems...
To format your device using windows media player//

Assuming that you are running windows media player 11

Go to your sync tab and right click on the device and hit format..
DO NOT USE MY COMPUTER TO FORMAT YOUR DEVICE...
once the format is completed get the firmware upgrade for the device...
just follow the link to get the firmware upgrade

My RCA mp3 player model th1702-a wont work it says it has too much data and is shutting down how do i fix it without spending money?

Connect the player to the PC and scan the files within. If there is any virus/malware detected please remove all files and clear the memory.
Now reload with safe files and to only about 85% of the memory space of the player.
If there is a reset please also reset the player after loading with new files.

Sms problem

You probably have limited storage space on your phone memory. you need to delete some messages from your inbox to free up memory. you also need to store most of your data on the memory card,e.g pictures, mp3,videos and games should be stored on the memory card. if you dont have a memory card, please get one. you can also reset your phone, but all your data in phone memory will be lost, e.g messages, phone numbers stored insied the phone memory, data in the mmc wont be lost. do this be typing *7370# then call key

Sansa keeps shutting off/ wont read memory disk

The issue you have described with your portable device in most cases can be resolved by formatting your device. Please follow these steps even if you have already attempted them once before.

Please note that this will remove all music from your device.

Formatting the device in Windows Media Player

1. Open Windows Media Player with your MP3 player connected to the computer

2. At the top of windows Media Player select the Sync tab at the top

3. The MP3 player should be recognized on the right hand side and say "Your Player Name"

4. Above the player name is a button that says "Format Storage Media" click this button to erase all the data from the player

5. Continue with the acknowledgement of erasing all data on disk.
