Hello- On modern gas cooktops and ranges when you turn on one burner ALL the burners will click, spark, until that burner is lit. I would ask if the other burners are lighting ok or do you have to use a match? Do you smell gas when all the burners are OFF? Feel free to reply and if you could provide the Model number of the unit that would be helpful. Best regards.
Most gas range tops no longer have pilot lights but use an electronic ignition (sparker) to light the burner. Normally when you turn the burner on you should here a snapping or sparking sound, at which point the burner should ignite. Here is a link to the user manual for 36" - 5 burner Thermador rangetop...maybe this will help: http://dl.owneriq.net/a/ac64ae7b-1ed3-44a3-9235-e4dbd8fe4628.pdf
By the way, in the short term you could always use a match to light the burner. JUST BE VERY CAREFUL THE YOU HAVE THE MATCH LIT AND OVER THE DESIRED BURNER BEFORE YOU TURN KNOB TO START THE BURNER!!!!
all burner igniters work at the same time - you may have a faulty electronic spark unit. change the spark unit. go to repair clinic dot come for the unit. also would be wise to check the ingniter start switch on the gas burner control knob
if u push the knob there is a clicking sound, if no the problem is damage the ignition coil, need to replace it,or check the outlet, plug or its batery operatet ignition? replace the batery.
the ignition is power operated, check the power source.
gud day,the problem is ur igniter ligther is totally damage & nid to replace, if u want to use ur cooktop use matches or ligther every time open ur gas cooktop, tnx gerbee
it sounds like the oven safety valve is bad, it will reach a point when the pilot will make enough energy to keep itself lit, but not enough to open the gas valve to light. it will need to be replaced. if you are handy you can do this, but make sure you shut off the gas to the range first. you should be able to find a replacement online, if not check with a local LP gas company that sells parts to the public.
