Hi Kenny Being a projection device... Which most TV's aren't ... You need to break the fault down into the Projection Section or the TV Section. Or Power Supply Section Projector bulb blown, overheating etc. Power supply sensing overload or fault then automatically shutting down. TV Section may be OK small internal LCD screen is projected by lens. Check internals. Happy Troubleshooting
When it flashes blue, are the flashes bright blue lines going across the screen with the picture in the background, if so, It sounds like the Blue tube or blue driver circuit is breaking down after a short period of time. If this is the case, the uPC that controls the set is detecting a large current drain on and is shutting the set off for protection, An engineers expert eye is required I`m afraid. Ian.
It sounds like you TV is overheating and the video is suffering and the lamp is overheating as well. Also, if your TV is over 2-3 years old, the mirrors (behind and below the big front screen) desperately need to be cleaned. Clean all filters and fans as well. (Look on side and behind the unit). Is the TV in a "hot" environment and/or dirty environment? DLP TV's are NOT sealed units. They need to be cleaned every few years to work well to have a good, clear, bright picture.
When you bring up the main menu you will have to turn off the home theater mode. If you have your users manual you should be able to get to it with the manuals help.
If you need more help, I can help you step-by-step, but I will have to get back to you after I get with a manual. My brothers set does this all the time, and I have helped him many, many times.

You may have some type of short INSIDE of your TV .Your TV is trying to turn on and RESETS itself to try again. If you have an EXTERNAL [black box],(usually means power supply, power adapter, etc.) power supply, that!! could be at fault. not giving the proper voltage, current, causing the machine to fault. If you can exchange a known working power supply to see if that is the problem. If you don't know what you are doing, don't go inside of the TV. There are circuits that can hold a charge of electricity that can & will hurt you.
Here's something that might also be useful. After you turn on
the set, and get the regular red blinky lights, hold down the Device
and Menu buttons together for about 5 seconds.
The Power light will start to flash in a two digit sequence.
