Dell E173FPc 17" TFT LCD Flat Panel Monitor Logo
Anonymous Posted on Dec 31, 2009

Dell E173FPc monitor worked fine yesterday. Today, the monitor only stays on for a split second and goes blank. The power light stays green. If we shut off the monitor using the power button and wait 10 to 15 seconds and power it up again the monitor will work for about second or two and then go blank again. Please help.

Hello,

The power supply in the unit has died. This is a very common problem with this series of monitor after 2-3 years of use. If you can solder then you should be able to do the repair yourself. Check out our step by step repair guide posted on our site at: www.ccl-la.com Our guide gives parts values and location information as well as how to open the unit up. If you don't feel like doing the repair we also offer repair services, see our web site for details.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

Monitor fails to activate. When turned on: - green light shows for a second or so, screen flashes - green light turns off and screen goes blank - after several second this repeats Monitor now stuck in...

You can try replacing the power supply/inverter board or troubleshoot it down to component level.
It can be the fuse, transistors, bad solder joints, bad lamps assembly, etc.

Screen Goes Blank

Ive seen this on other monitors. Look for a 1 and 2. Some monitors do NOT auto detect a signal, and this one might not. Look for a way to set the monitor from Digital input to VGA input. Try that and see.

Display works - but only for a plit second...

Lower your resolution on your computer. Usually when that happens the resolution is set higher than what the monitor can support. Lower the resolution and try again.

Bank Monitor problems

Unplug the cable from your PC, if the monitor shows a test image, the monitor is fine and the problem is with your graphic card. If you dont see nothing on-screen after unpluging the cable from the PC, then the monitor in damaged. Send it to repair.
