Printer prints slightly blurred image on right side of paper.

I've purchased new cartridges color/black,... cleaned contacts in the carrier and ran the alignment program, still blurry.

    Thanks for a response.

Put in new cart., now says remove tape, won't come to center so I can remove.

  • joannelj Oct 17, 2008

Same thing. Brand new cartridges, no tape anywhere, but the same message. It will let me print, but the prints don't look too good. I mostly get this error when I try to align the new cartridges.

I have the same problem, but when I hit cancel it will only print in black. I cannot get it to print in color, and there is no tape anywhere on the cartridge.

All I had to do was hit cancel!??? Ahhhhhhh stupid printer!!

I had this same problem, I just cancelled the alignment by pressing the cancel button and everything works fine and prints well. Don't know what was wrong!

SOURCE: lexmark x5470, alignment error

hi alyciaadamo;
im not sure but i think uninstalling and reinstalling will not get the printer set back to default settings. can you navigate through the menu even if you see the error? press the cancel or something? if you can, look for reset factory settings.

also try to remove all the ink cartridge, and power cable from the printer, wait for 30mins and try it back.

I just want to know if your using genuine lexmark ink for you printer. :)

Just got a X5470 printer from a friend of the families. Said he was not sure what was wrong with it. I didn't have the cd so i installed it offline. It says that I have colored and black ink, have...

Make sure you are inserting the correct cartridges for your model. The Lexmark X5470 uses 32 or 34 black cartridge and the 33 or 35 color cartridge.
Try to follow the steps below to identify and fix the problem:
  1. Open the printer cover and remove the cartridges. Check the encoder strip (transparent strip usually found behind the cartridge carrier) and make sure it has not gotten unseated from its position.
  2. Close the cover. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it.
  3. When the printer turns on, check for any errors on the printer display screen. If "alignment problem" error appears, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for additional assistance.
  4. If no error appears, reinsert one cartridge first. Close the cover and check for errors.
  5. Reinsert the other cartridge.
  6. Replace whichever cartridge is causing the error to appear. It may be faulty. You may also try to insert a different known working cartridge to determine if the cartridge you're currently using is defective.
If the problem continues, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for additional assistance.

I have a X5470 Lexmark printer and it keeps telling me there is an alignment problem and is asking me to remove tape from the cartridges. There is no tape there that I can see.

It could be the cartridges in the carrier. Open the printer cover. Remove both cartridges. While the cover is open, check for any obstructions in the cartridge carrier's path. If all is well, close the cover. Unplug and replug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reinsert one cartridge first then close the cover. Check for any errors. Then, open the printer cover again and reinsert the other cartridge. Replace whichever cartridge is causing the error to appear. Or you can try to insert a different known working cartridge to determine if the other is faulty.

I don't see a paper jam, but that is the error i keep getting. it will let me print or copy anything. the printer i have is a lexmark x5470

Leading cause of paper jams is debris/foreign objects that have accidentally fallen into the paper feed area.

1. Remove the sheets of paper from the feeder.

2. Grab a flashlight and look inside for any debris.

3. If you're willing and physically able, you may also turn the printer over. Any debris should just freely roll out from the feeder.

4. If feeder is clear, open the printer cover and remove the cartridges.

5. Check the cartridge area for any obstructions/debris that could cause this error or problem.

6. If cartridge area is clear, close the cover.

7. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power outlet to reset it.

8. When the printer turns on, reinsert the cartridges and load some paper. Try to print again.

My printer error message indicates- Alignment problem.(1) Remove tape from cartridges.(2) Check Paper.(3) Press Ok to retry. I do not see it being easy to remove tape from cartridge, but my allignment paper...

Make sure you are using the correct cartridges for your model. Try to remove both the cartridges. Close the cover. Unplug and replug the printer into the power outlet to reset itself. When the printer turns on, reinsert the cartridges when prompted. Close the cover and check for any error. If none, try to print again.

I installed a new cartridge and I keep getting an error message to remove the tape, which I did before the install. The alignment test fails.

Printer normally does the alignment printing whenever you do something on the cartridges (removing, reseating or replacing). Try to remove the cartridges from the printer. Clean the nozzles using a damp paper towel, if necessary. Close the cover. Unplug the printer from the power source. Plug it back in after 10-15 seconds. When it's ready, insert the cartridges. Let the printer print the alignment page again. Let it finish the whole page without cancelling it.
Check if the problem persists.

Lexmark X7675 error: Paper Jam (on printer control panel). Have turned off/unplugged several times, occasionally clears error, but it comes back. Sometimes just as paper has fed about 2 inches, sometimes...

Remove the cartridges. see any bits of paper left behind. Replace the cartridges. You will be asked to align again. Do this.

Hopefully, this will work
Good luck

Disconnect from computer - remove cartridges - wipe the bottom of them - not the side - reinsert - reconnect - try again - should ask to realign cartridges... cheers
