Kitchenaid KUDSO1FLBL The Hinge Tensioner String broke yet again (every 3 years) as the low grade plastic is the weak link. I have the replacement kit set of parts and I DL'ed a schematic but I do not have the instructions/order to dissemble the door to put the cord in and I do not remember how to do it. Can you help or send a link for the repair?
It is aall exposed on the outside of the unit. Discconecct the water, remove the two set screws attaching the unit to the counter, slide it out and you will see the damage left or right. The white plastci piece slips off over the metal clip and you re-attach the string, apply pressure to the spring and slip the platci piece back over the metal and you are done. You will spend more time removing the unit than repairing it.
