your model gps doesnt need a battery to operate. if you know how to open the gps, open it and disconnect the battery, then plug in the home or car charger, then press and hold the power button for up to ten seconds. if it starts, let me know and ill give you a link to buy a replacement battery. if it doesnt start, please continue reading.

is actually a very common problem with these magellan power
ports...they are poor quality from the factory and always and i mean
always fail..the new ports that you find on ebay are 100% better then
the factory port.
if your able to replace that power port
yourself, you can get one HERE, if not, ask the fellow that
sells them for help.

The garmin works off of a GPS signal. If you are not moving, the GPS signal doesn't pick up any movement . . . .because you are not really moving. m Therefore, the speed and distance is nil.
is it set in similation mode?? try reset by holding down finger on bottom right hand corner of screen before you power up, and go to www.garmin.com for software update
reformat the card and put all your songs back on it that should work if that doesnt work if its a new card take it back and get you a new one sometimes you can pick up a bad one its happen to me before
I just got off the phone with India (Tech Service). I sent my Roadmate 700 for service in October. When it did not come back, I called 4x and had to prove I sent it in with a copy of the tracking number from UPS. It has taken 2 mos to resolve, but they are sending me a Maestro 4250, free shipping for $300.00. Their first offer was for a free 3100. I was told the Roadmate 700 series is discontinued.
