Thanx for the solution, I actually have tried that and it was indeed correct but the real problem I guess is in the power socket coz it looks to be damaged. What I did is that, I returned it to the supplier where I bought the item and have it refunded....I'll jst look for another store to buy new floppy drive. But anyway, thank u so much for the solution u sent. I really appreciate it....GOD BLESS.

The cable for a floppy can be tricky. You should see a red line running down one side of the cable. If you look closely on your motherboard, you should a little "1" imprinted on the board near one of the corners where the cable plugs in. Make sure the red line is on the same side. Take the other end, and on the back of the floppy drive you should see another "1", do the same thing and make sure the red line is on the same side.
Turn on your PC and try that. Monitor your floppy drive, and the light should blink a couple times while it starts up, and go off. If it stays solid, you should double check the cable connections, or try another cable.
You can then check your BIOS and see that it is listed, typically on the front page, or under the drives section.

Hope this helps.

ASRock P4i45GV R5 0

As the motherboard only supports IDE interface for Hard drive it is unlikely you will be able to connect anything more than 128GB to it depending on the BIOS version you have. Also you may be limited to using only upto WindowsXP with this.

P4i45gv dvd connecting point

There are 4 different connections for IDE on this board, so the Optical drive can use any of the 3 left after the hard drive, depending on your configuration. IDE uses a ribbon cable with 1 or 2 devices attached. A typical connection of 2 devices is 1 HD as Master and the second device (CD drive) as a Slave on a single cable. This leaves the second IDE open for expansion down the line.

You could also do 1 device per ribbon and leave as Cable select.

Does the mother board Asrock 845GV (P4I45GV) support pci sata card

If you are trying to install Windows XP then -
The problem is that XPinstallation CD does not have a SATA driver, unless you have a SATA drive on adisk etc. and can install the driver when XP asks for a hard drive driver then,XP cannot detect the hard disk and therefore won't install XP.The FIX.Go into the BIOS anddisable the SATA drive (enable IDE emulation), this will make XP think it is aIDE/PATA hard disk. Then you can install XP normally. When Windows hasbeen installed then install all the device drivers (including the SATA driver),then shut down and boot up and got into the BIOS and enable the SATA drive.

Hello, I have asrock p4i45gv and I want to buy one more HDD. Must I buy SATA HDD or not. Thank you.

Hi there,
The mainboard doesnt support sata drives. So you will need to get a IDE drive or optionally get a sata drive with a PCI sata controller card.

I have asrock prescott 800 ddr400 fsb800 motherboard. i bought a new dvdrw that is sata. is this dvdrw compatible with the mother board? where to connect?

Sorry but the motherboard Asrock 845GV (P4I45GV) doesn't have a SATA controller and there for does not have the ability to connect a SATA CD/DVD-ROM drive to the MB. However you can buy a serial ATA IDE to SATA converter which will allow you to connect you're SATA CD/DVD-ROM drive into an opened IDE port. Provided is a link to you're motherboard; Next, is a link for the SATA convertor;

Asrock p4i45gv not detecting hd 3650 agp card

Take the new card out and reconnect the monitor to the on-board VGA. Boot up press F2 and enter the bios. Look for resource configuration and set the Primary Graphics Adapter as AGP.
Save and switch off. Disconnect the PC from the mains, fit the new card and attach the monitor cable to the new card.
Make sure to attch a power connecter to the card if it needs it.
Reconnect the PC to the mains switch on and hopefully away you go.

Best of luck.

Problem regarding usb booting

the hard drive registered in the standard cmos utility is the only one that could be registered for boot in advanced cmos setup and no other, if your usb hard drive and pen drive could be registered in the advanced cmos setup - where boot options are registered, surely it will boot your pc.
