My remote has new batteries but it will not work. When I manually push my purifier or away mode buttons the machine will do nothing. It is just on normal. I clean my machine and plate. I have only had my machine a year in March
Several months ago when I cleaned my machine the remote works only on the power button. (I've installed new batteries). In addition the buttons on the machine don't work properly either and I can't get it to reset, or to get off normal, and with my husbands smoking I need to do a good room cleaning frequently.

The display on the fron of my unit went blank and then began showing several black rectangles. I turned it off, cleaned it good, and checked the fuse but it still will not run at all. I've had it 5 months. This is quite frustrating, expecially considering how much I paid for the unit. The display on the fron of my unit went blank and then began showing several black rectangles. Fresh Air purifiers are noted for two weak points. The display circuit board and the main circuit board. Call (336) 499-2505 and they will help you work through the problem. They give away information.
It would appear that the machine is not receiving power for some reason.
1) Check the plug in the back. Make sure it is inserted firmly! Determine if the wall outlet is live. Turn the machine on with the manual front switch and with the remote control. If the manual control works, but the remote does not, make sure the plastic shipping shield has been removed from the battery end of the remote. (Just pull on the little tab, if there is one.) Also check the remote battery if the remote controls don't work, but the manual ones do.
2) Make sure the little safety switch has the "I" end depressed and the "0" end out.
3) Unplug the machine, and check the fuse right beside the plug. Replace it with the EXACT same size, available from an auto parts store.
4) Carefully inspect the inside of the machine, looking for wires which are loose, corroded, broken, or missing. If you can't replace these yourself, find an electronics person who can do it for you.
5) Make sure the back screen is inserted firmly so that the internal safety switch is depressed. (You'll hear it click when the screen is in position.)
If none of these troubleshooting steps help, the problem is most likely in the computerized controls or motherboard, and that cannot be repaired. Vollara (EcoQuest's new name) is no longer manufacturing nor servicing the Breeze. However, if you call customer service (800-989-2299) they can give you some upgrade options. Your other solution is to try to find a dealer who has Breezes in stock and who might also have the spare computer components.
As long as something works, it isn't the fuse. If the machine is totally dead, then it's the fuse.
The plate and other components must be clean and dry. The plate must be totally free of debris, oil, and defects. (Did you clean it with ammonia/water 50/50 ONLY? Did you thoroughly air dry it? Is it perfectly whole, with no burned spots, loose portions, broken wire strands, cracks, lint?) If the plate passes inspection, and if you know they're reinserted correctly into the little "tracks" at the top and bottom you can reset the "perform cleaning" message. Try pushing the little black "reset" button that is located on the right side of the machine between the other manual controls. Then turn the machine off, using your remote or the o/- switch at the back of the machine. After a minute or two, turn the machine back on and see if that solved the problem.
If not, then the problem is probably with the computerized controls, which can only be serviced by Vollara (the new name for EcoQuest). Call them at 1-800-989-2299, ask for repairs, and give #16618 as your dealer referral number (unless you purchased the machine from an authorized dealer with whom you are still in contact.)
Hope this helps.
The FA2 uses several technologies for purification. The "normal" mode produces purifiers using the honeycomb RCI cell and UV light. This has little or no odor.
Open the back of the machine, or shine a flashlight through the front to make sure the white 4" plate is inserted, closest to the back screen. If it isn't, you'll need to either put one in, or order one from Vollara (new EcoQuest company name) @ 1-800-989-2299. You can use #16618 as the dealer referral number if you are no longer in touch with the registered distributor who sold you the machine.
When you turn the machine to "purifier," you should then detect the "fresh air" smell. You'll see square footage numbers, which you should set according to the immediate area, NOT total for the building! Also, the machine directs the air flow to the sides in a "V" shape, rather than straight ahead. So if you're standing close to the machine, smack-dab in the front/center, you may not be able to smell any of the purifier!
When the machine is on "Away" mode, the purifier and fan are ramped up to maximum strength, and you can choose 2, 4, 6, or 8 hours for this super-sanitization. At then end of that time, the machine will return to whatever setting you had it on for daily operation. No people or pets should be in the immediate area, because the purifier is strong and likely to be uncomfortable. (Set the timer for 2 or 4 hours less than the time you expect to be "away," to allow the purifier levels in the home to return to a pleasant level.)
Hope this helped.
1) Make sure the plug in the back is inserted firmly. 2) The little switch by the plug should have the "I" end depressed and the "0" end up. 3) Check to make sure the back screen is inserted firmly, depressing the interior safety switch. (It will click when positioned correctly). 4) Try both the manual and remote controls. If the manual controls work, but the remote ones do not, check to see if the little plastic battery shield is still in the remote. Remove it by pulling on the little tab. If that's not the issue, also try a new battery in the remote. 5) Remove the plug in back, and pull out the fuse to see if it is blown. If so, replace it with the EXACT same size fuse, available at an auto parts store.
For the Fresh Air 2.0 or 2.1 remote, its oval shaped.
1. Hold the remote so that that the power button is facing up.
2. Then flip the remote in your hand so you can see the back side.
3. Then with your other hand, side your index finger from the top down the back side of the remote until you finger nail catches the a slot (about an inch from the top of the remote). Right below that slot, is a plastic tab that secures the battery cover. Using your finger nail, pull that tab down about 1/16" away from the remote to unlatch the cover.
4. Lift the cover off the remote, and you should see 2 AAA batteries. Remove the old batteries and replace with 2 new batteries.
5. Align the two tabs on the battery cover into slots on the back of the remote.
6. Gently press the back cover and the latching tab should shap into the remote.
Hi Teresa, that is certainly not the smell the machine should produce :)
The smells, other then fresh air, might be 'trapped' in the filter. So washing the filter (top rack of the dishwasher works for the metal mesh filters) might do the trick.
Another trick you can try is to put the purifier on the floor, turn it on high mode (away mode) and put a box over it. Let it run for an hour or two and the smells should be gone.
Make sure you have fairly new plates, to make the machine more effective.

I think it is unbelivable that you charge for tech help for this high priced unit
