I've had the set for about 2 months, with no problems, and today I tried to turn it on and all I got was a red blinking light. I unplugged it and replugged it in, then tried to turn it back on. I heard it sound as if it was 'trying' to turn on and the screen got slightly brighter before it got dark again and the light returned to blinking. Any help would be appreciated, the manual is useless!
1year and three weeks old, picture suddenly went black and red led blinks 7 times. Paid $428 for a Panasonic authorized service technician, he replaced SD board and TV was back in operation for 6 days. Tech came back and replaced SD board & D board the SD board shorted again and now one horizontal line on screen so PDP is defective and now TV is worthless. Not only is my $2000 TV off warranty and dead in a year, but I'm out $428 on a repair that didn't work. Did the 2nd repair ruin the PDP? WWho should I sue?
I purchased the TV using AMX card 18 month ago. They have an extended 1 year warranty on top of manufactory's. I just have this set repaired: replaced SD board, total charge is $550. I already file a claim and hope to get reimbursed soon.

Re: TV Won't Turn On
Are you from US or Canada? I'm Panasonic authorized and allways Pana covered the warranty after 1 month from the expire date. Call Panasonic Viera service and tell them the story. I'm sure you'll get refound.
Anyway, a horizontal line doesn't mean the PDP is defective. It's one scan IC burned on the SU or SD board (depend where the line is). We allways replaced the SC bord each time SU or SD got burned. If after SD and SC replacement it still defective...yes the PDP has one scan line in short.
Call Viera and insist to get warranty. Let me know. Good luck!

This is called the blinking green light of death-----only one of two things can cause this problem.
First: remove front speaker grill (IT PULLS OFF) AND remove inspection plate behind it; look for the two bundles of wires coming down and to the right from the front keyboard of the set.
Unplug both plugs you find (different and marked so you cannot mix them up-----the idea is to take the front keyboard out of circuit-----set will still function with remote as receiver is behind front screen)
Try (after 70 seconds) to turn on with remote
If it comes on---defective reset button on front keyboard----use set only with remote or remove and remove actual reset switch---it is located behind and part of frame for screen----entire front screen would have to be removed to get at it.
Second: if disconnection of the front keyboard does not help, the DM unit is bad.
As you look from back of set it is large metal box at extreme left side.
The blinking light is the unit trying to "Boot" up-----these have a problem where caps and a few other parts in that unit fail-----kits on the net are available----Mitsubishi no longer sells or services these units but PTS Electronics does repair them.
Let me know if you have questions and try disconnection of the front keyboard FIRST.
Same Problem, same day, have you found any solution?, i stored the camera for abut 6 months following the Manual specifications, keeping the camera away from humidity, dust, even light and unmounted batteries, but it didn't turned on when i really needed it, I tried changing batteries, power source, i've already checked the lock/standby and the main dial, anyone help please!
The first thing to do is try to turn on the set with the remote and then when it doesn't respond go to the set and hold down the MENU and INPUT buttons at the same time until the power LED starts blinking a two sequence code. Like 2 - 4 or 1 - 2. The code will keep blinking for five or six times and stop. The blinking is the microprocessor telling you why the set is not working. We techs call that a self diagnostic function. Which this set has. Just repost your findings.
Please answer this question. Were the 4 bulbs visabley bad; say broken or did they have a milkey look, or broken wire inside? In other words did the bulbs you replaced look as good as a new unused bulb? Please reply.
My phillips 42" is the same way. Just started popping up the settings menu the other day and wouldn't stop popping up until I downloaded the software upgrade from the Phillips web site. But now, two days later it won't do anything but give that same annoying red blinking light. The customer service says to take it to an authorized repair center. sounds like they have a ton of these calls everyday. The solution is to buy it from Costco, and make sure you return it and get a new one before their return policy expires.
