Convergence module I have a JVC Av-56wp74. Television repair person told me that the Covergence module was bad. He charged me 150.00 for that. I have this set for more than 5-yrs. Is there any way I can fix this problem on my own, and save some $$$$$$. There is no Red in the screen. There is a big bubble like, at the top of the television. The green and blue cant' seem to come together. Please Help.

That 's actually a very reasonable price for a convergence board replacement in that TV. You can expect elsewhere to be double that or more. Unless you know electronics in TVs I don't advise trying to repair it yourself.

Someone offered me a jvc hdtv av-56wp74,and one person said just the bulb in the lamp has to be replaced;then when called jvc they said i had to by colored tubes for 300.00 each,,,,who do i believe

The tubes rarely fail in this model so it may be a convergence issue instead. Once quick test is to goto your convergence menu and see if you can adjust red and blue. If not its has failed and needs to be fixed.

Here is an example video

I have a JVC AV-56WP74 Rear Projection HDTV Ready Television...I had a problem with the convergence with dual pictures on screen...I replaced the convergence card with 110's.....This fixed the screen...

The STK392-110 are the stock ICs for your JVC. Chances are one or more of the feed resistors are bad. JVC TVs will usually have at least one bad resistor when the original ICs fail

Convergence problem with my jvc tv

Its actually a easy repair but its recommended that the convergence resistors need replacement as well. You can get the parts at the following link and they provide free detailed instructions with pictures. You need two STK392-110 Convergence ICs and you would need the JVC convergence Resistor kit #1 also. Heres the link.

JVC I'Art AV-56wp74

A repair facility will charge 400 to 600.00 for the repair. Or you can repair it yourself if you can solder. As both convergence ICs need to be replaced. They are STK392-110 you can get replacement ICs at the following link with free instalation instructions with pictures so you can do the repair yourself. Heres the link.

JVC AV-56WP74 56 in rear projection convergence

If you remove the lower front panel where the speakers are then the small access panel you will see the convergence module right there in the front. It will have the two Convergence ICs attached to that heat sink. They are probably STK392-110. Then if you would like let me know and I will post a link where you can get the parts along with step by step instructions on how to do the repair.

JVC AV-56WP74 projection TV green sagging and can not be adjusted out.

The convergence amps need to be replaced. If you're having a shop do this call around and ask what they charge for repairing the convergence. If you're doing this repair this set uses two stk392-110 Sanyo built amps. You will also need to test and possibly replace one or more of the 1.5 ohm feed resistors in that circuit.
If you're doing this at component level try Acme in Florida for amps and resistors: 1-800-575-9833 http://www.acme-sales.net/index.shtml and if you're doing this at modular level send it to PTS http://www.ptscorp.com/ 1-800-844-7871
Good luck!

Double vision On JVC AV-56WP74 56

You have an convergence problem, There are 2 IC's that go bad and a few resisters that can change value. If you flip the board with the Chips inspect the pins for cold solder joints. The IC's can be purchased from matelectronics
