My polaroid recorder/player drm 2001g will not move from the loading screen to the operating screen. It did this before and their technical support department gave me a code to enter with the remote control to reset the unit. My research has not been able to turn up a firmware upgrade, nor a remote control code for resetting your DRM-2001G. From the forums I've searched it seems the usual reset procedures apply: remove any disc from within the player, and unplug the unit for several minutes, then restore power to reset. Additionally, the manual does specify that there is factory reset option within it's setup menu screens. From what I read, anyone who couldn't reset their unit from your symptoms by simply unplugging it, returned their unit for replacement.

I don't like coming up empty, and finding the remote code that you mentioned a tech gave you would have allowed me to help a number of other people, so I actually tried to call their canadian 1-800 number. It was, of course, out of service. I can't access the US number but if you'd like to try its 1-866-289-5168.

I was unclear from your post if the player was getting stuck loading a particular disc, or if it was stuck on the 'welcome' screen even with no disc loaded. I understand that if the system hang is independent of having a disc loaded, the setup menu reset is inapplicable to your situation.
