The USB ports on my Toshiba A135 S2356 laptop are not working. I tried to use my printer and it says not connected. I bought a new cord but it still doesn't work. What should I do?

1. first check ur USB port using any other USB device, like pen drive, mouse, keyboard, etc.
if system detects that device, then ur USB port is OK!

2. if USB is OK, then the problem is with the 'Printer Driver' not the cord!

3. reinstall the printer driver!

4. update the driver!

5. if USB port is not working, then replace it!

if this helps, tell me.......

Check make sure the usb drivers are loaded and they have no errors. You can go to control panel-system-device manager. If you have a yellow question mark then go find the chipset drivers for your laptop if not you may have a dead short to the usb controller chip on the motherboard.

  1. Try to connect a mouse to the USB port. If it does not work,
  2. Delete the USB driver from System/Properties and restart the laptop.
  3. After restart, try the mouse, if it still does not work, the motherboard is defective. It is sometimes repairable. Bring it to a technisian.

In summary, try typing in some backdoor passwords. Then try removing the battery that they were talking about.

To remove go here http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/toshiba-satellite-a135/remove-mainboard-4.htm.

The battery is in some plastic blue outline.

Usb ports

Check to see if your flash drive or printer needs drivers in order to work properly. If not, then it could be the drivers for the usb ports or you have faulty usb ports. They're supposed to catch it at the factory, but it happens from time to time on new machines.
