Singer Confidence Model 7470 bobbin jammed, needles breaking, now won't sew

Sewing machines will get out of time, often as a result of broken needle. Search for sewing machine timing or take it for service, otherwise it will simply continue to break needles and possibly damage the machine.

I volunteer at a women's prison in their sewing class and we have model 385-16231301. The bobbin thread does not pick up. The bobin case seems to sit in their properly, but when I turn it manually...

check the needle to make sure that it's inserted correctly, the flat side of the needle goes to the back of the machine,, and make sure the needle goes all the way up into the needle cavity .

make sure the bobbin is correctly inserted

clean under the needle plate area & in bobbin area for loose threads or lint

if none of the above work & the needle is still hitting something then it 's a great possibility it's out of time & needs to be serviced, cause the needle should not be hitting anything when it goes down.

Necchi Heavy Duty Sewing machine model 3205FA, bend needle while hemming denim skirt, replaced the needle, but now the needle is not picking up the bobbin thread, any suggestions for me to try???

Generally when the needle does not pick up the bobbin thread, it means the needle is either too far in or just plain the wrong length. YOu might want to try lowering the needle just a hair and see if that helps.

Have a Necchi 3205FA and trying to figure out how to set it up for serging. DVD wasn't much help.

There is a serger attachment available for that model. When you attach it to the machine you must start the fabric from the top of the foot. The foot won't cut the fabric if you feed it under the foot. You will want to use the Wide zigzag, overlock, or hemstitch stitches. Set stitch length knob on #4 for overlock stitch #1-0 for hemstitch or zigzag. Set the stitch width to the maximum. Make sure the hook arm is inserted over the needle screw so that when the needle goes us and down the attachment will work. Start on the edge of your fabric by making a small cut about 1-2 cm deep and about the same distance from the edge as the cutting blade. This will make it much easier to feed the fabric over and then under the foot. Remember to start the fabric on top of the foot and then feed it under the foot before it reaches where the needle would penetrate.

Needle picks up bobbin thread but then thread gets stuck

I had exactly the same problem on the exact same model 3205FA. I'm not an expert, but have a little experience on solving my wife and daughter's sewing machine mechanical problems. I would suggest the following: A. Page 6 of the owners manual see item # 1...to be precise it is 1 1/2 times around. B. Page 7 at the bottom, Make sure the bobbin tension spring is set so that there is tension. When holding the tread the bobbin shouldn't unroll. If jiggled about 2-3 inches the bobbin should release about 1/3 of that distance. C. Page 8 at the bottom, ill. # 2. There are two flange holders and screws that hold the bobbin case in position located at about 5 and 7 o'clock. Make sure both screws are tight. This is important. D. Make sure the thread is treaded through the upper tension adjustment properly. See page 9 # Illustration C. Terrible illustration. Keep the dial generally in the green range. E. Put in a new needle, the needles that come with the machine are just short of terrible. Wouldn't hurt to buy good top quality needles for the machine.
