Page 63 of your HP LaserJet 4600dn printer manual:

Controlling print jobs: (condensed version) MS Windows

Three settings affect how the printer driver tries to pull paper when you send a print job. The "Source," "Type," and "Size" settings appear in the Page Setup, Print, or Print Properties dialog boxes in most software programs.

Your question indicates that you wish to configure your printer to take from the top tray. That is a "Source" setting. So in the print Setup or Print Properties dialog box, change the "Source" to Tray 1.

Printing by Source means you choose a specific tray
from which you want the printer to pull paper. The printer tries to print from this tray, no matter what type or size is loaded in it. If you choose a tray that is configured from the embedded Web server for a type or size that does not match your print job, the
printer does not print automatically. Instead, it waits for you to load the tray you chose with the type or size of print media for your print job. If you load the tray, the printer begins printing. If you press the printer tries to print from another tray that has the correct type or size.

HP LASERJET 3015X wont print from top drawer

Most common issue here is that either the switch that tells the tray is installed is broken or the shaft that turns the pickup wheel has broken. Pull out tray and try turning the rubber wheel in the center top of the cavity. If it turns freely then the shaft has broken.

I am trying to print but its telling me to laod paper in the bottom tray. I have always loaded from the top. I cant even get the paper to fit in the tray. Help Please

check the setting on your printer properties on the computer. Check paper source setting.

The bottom paper tray can be extended to allow longer paper (page 8 in user guide ) also there is a button on the printer to select either the cassette or from the top loader. This is explained in the user manual on page 11

How do you manually feed legal paper into a HP laserjet 4 plus (model 2037A)? It only has a letter paper tray. I inherited it without a service manual

The LaserJet 4 plus I have worked with had a paper tray that was adjustable for letter or legal. If yours is not, there should be a door on the front of the printer that will pull down at the top, and is hinged on the bottom. Open the door, you will be able to extend the "paper tray" and put a small amount of legal sheets on it. Go to the menu and tell it to print to this paper tray, I believe it is paper tray one.

Cannot clear error code 3523 for Kodak ESP 9200 Series all in one printer. Have followed all instructions per Kodak online

Had the same problem error 3523 that would not clear. Tried Kodak support with no results so took matters into my own hands.

Noticed the top tray seemed jammed into the printer. Tried pulling it out but it seemed locked. Flipped the printer over, removed 8 screws, 4 metal plates.

Removed bottom tray, set aside. Remove 3 screws for plastic bracket that holds top tray. Move bracket over, be careful not to damage wires. Remove top tray and reinstall so that it is in extended position. There is two notched in the side of the top tray. Extend so that catch is in back notch.

Reassemble everything in reverse order. Take care that the top tray does not slide into the printer when you turn the printer over. It did for me the first time that the tray jammed again.

Replug everything and startup the printer with top tray extended past bottom tray. The printer will tell you that top tray is jammed, push top tray flush with bottom tray.

Printer now works. Don't know why tray jams in the first place but this solution can keep you from scrapping printer or paying for service.

Very disappointed with Kodak printer. Obviously printers were not their core business and they paid a sub-contractor to build these products for them. My next printer will be an HP.

I have an Agfa Photo Printer AP1100 and have to put a new supply of postcards in to the paper tray but cannot unclip this from the printer. Very grateful if you could tell me how to do this. Thanks Peter...

Peter,
It should just slide out if you move it from left to right - make sure the clear plastic top tray is pulled out slightly - which it will be if your tray has been inserted into the printer correctly

My printer Lexmark T634 is showing "remove paper standard bin"

What your printer is telling you is that it thinks or knows that the top exit tray for the paper is full. This is the tray that is moulded into the top of the printer.

This caused by two things. It is actually full or the Bin Full Actuator is out of position and forcing the error condition.

Look at the standard bin. Over to the top at the top left corner there should be finger (almost the same as paper clip) hanging down. If it is not there, then it is more then likely that the finger is jammed up.

Jam in top cover area

Replace your paper pickups and set your paper tray setting correct, both in the tray and the settings menu. That should help you out. The part# for paper-pickups is RF5-3739.

Xerox Phaser 2135

Try to isolate the problem. You said that the printer is Displays Tray 4 I/F Error Power Off/On. Put paper only on the Manual Tray (Tray 1), just to force the printer to print from that Tray. If the paper pass all the way through the machine, then you know that there is no paper inside the top portion of the printer. Now repeat the same thing with Tray #2,#3, and any other Tray but not #4. If the printer works fine with all the other Trays, probably Tray 4 is the problem or the whole drawer. Check switching another Tray with Tray 4.
