Look at pages 16 to 20 in the user manual. This may give you some insight as to haw this may occur. Also, A google search for this radio brings up a lot of useful info. This is a complicated radio as is indicated by the 80 page user manual. It's not one that you can pick up and use right out of the box!

If you post the make and model along with any serial numbers, bar codes etc on the radio then someone maybe able to help.

your factory radio may be part of your anti theft system have your installer or you determine if there were to be any other connectors missing or not utilized.

It is an anit theft radio code, you should have a card with the number in the manual that came with the vehicle or should contact a dealership for the code.

I had the same issue here is the quote from the owners manual: To increase/decrease the volume level, press the up or down button during RX or STANDBY mode. With both radios on the same channel hold down the transmit or "PTT" button--this will put the other radio in the RX mode. While holding down this PTT or side button on one radio then you can adjust the volume on the other radio using the up or down arrows. (This is how you do it on RX mode. I'm not sure yet how to enter Standby mode.)

1. If the radio / i-pod is on- turn it off.
2. Hit the 'mode' button until the time flashes (it should be 3 times).
3. Use the Tun +/- button to change the hour.
4. Use the Volume +/- to change the minutes.
5. Click through the rest of the options to change between setting the alarm, how to be woken up (chime, ipod, etc), 12/24 hour format, year, and date.

There should be something on that in the manual.
