If you are connecting the router to a cable DSL satellite modem, please follow the steps below: 1. Place the router in an open and central location. Do not plug the power adapter into the router. 2. Turn the power off on your modem. If there is no on/off switch, then unplug the modem's power adapter. Shut down your computer.3. Unplug the Ethernet cable (that connects your computer to your modem) from your computer and place it into the WAN port on the router.4. Plug an Ethernet cable into one of the four LAN ports on the router. Plug the other end into the Ethernet port on your computer.5. Turn on or plug in your modem. Wait for the modem to boot (about 30 seconds).6. Plug the power adapter to the router and connect to an outlet or power strip. Wait about 30 seconds for the router to boot.7. Turn on your computer.8. Verify the link lights on the router. The power light, WAN light, and the LAN light (the port that your computer is plugged into) should be lit. If not, make sure your computer, modem, and router are powered on and verify the cable connections are correct.9. Skip to page 16 to configure your router.Connect to Cable/DSL/Satellite Modem OR

Use an Ethernet cable to connect your computer directly to the DSL modem, bypassing the router, turn the modem off, turn the modem on, wait 60 seconds, and restart your computer.
Does the Ethernet lamp still blink when Windows is booting, and when you are using the Internet?
Turn the DSL modem off.
Turn the router off.
Turn the computer off.
Disconnect the Ethernet cable from the modem, and connect it from the computer to the router.
Turn the router on, and wait 60 seconds, then turn your computer on.
After Windows is running, click Start.
Click Run
Type CMD
Press Enter
Type IPCONFIG
Press Enter
Look for output like: default gateway........ 192.168.123.456
If the string starts with '192.168', then your computer *IS* "talking" to the router.
Now, use an Ethernet cable to connect the WAN port on the router to the DSL modem.
Turn the modem on.
Turn the router off.
Turn the router on.
Wait 60 seconds.
Restart your computer, and you should be able to web-surf.
Can you clarify the problem? I have the same modem. make sure that the coax cable is connected to your wall and that the ethernet cable is going from your modem to your router or computer. If all else fails pull the power chord out of the back (thin black chord) and wait 30 seconds or so, and plug it back in. This will reset your modem.

With the router powered on and running, se a toothpick or something like that to hold the reset button down for 20 seconds. Release the reset button and wait for the router to reboot. This usually takes a minute or two.
You may need to reboot your computer, although it's generally simpler to unplug the ethernet cable from the router (after the factory reset), wait 30 seconds, then plug the cable back in.
This is also known as 'renew dhcp lease'.
If that doesn't work, try powering down your cable modem/dsl adapter, power down the router, then power up the cable modem/dsl, wait for it to connect, then power up the router.
Some cable modems and dsl boxes 'lock on' to the first ethernet adapter they see, this will make the cable/dsl box reset the lock.
Just disconnect the ethernet cable from the computer and put it into the slot called internet on the router then run ehernet cable from port 1 to computer.
You don't indicate your configuration or model, but assuming that you have a high speed modem (like cable or DSL) what usually works is:
Shut down your computer, unplug the cable modem and the router from power (remove the connection from the adaptor on back, no need to go to the wall unless that is more accessible) . Connect
all three - computer to router, router to modem. Make sure that the
ethernet cable between the router and the modem is in the router uplink
port and that the computer is plugged into one of the four ports that
look alike. Wait 30 seconds - plug in the modem. Wait another 30
seconds, plug in the router, wait another 30 seconds and boot the
computer.
If this doesn't work, repost with what did happen. If you have a different configuration than I assumed, please post a clarification giving your actual configuration including model numbers.
Shut down your computer, unplug the cable modem and the switch. Connect all three - computer to switch, switch to modem. Make sure that the ethernet cable between the router and the modem is in the router uplink port and that the computer is plugged into one of the four ports that look alike. Wait 30 seconds - plug in the modem. Wait another 30 seconds, plug in the router, wait another 30 seconds and boot the computer.
Open a browser and see if you have internet access. If you still don't, then try to check the browser by typing 192.168.1.1 into the address bar of the browser. That should give you the browser sign in screen. The Linksys default is to leave the user name blank and type admin for the password. That should give you access to the router so you can check the settings.
If this doesn't work, document carefully what happens and post again with your results and we'll try to go from there.
Since it worked when you last used it, the first thing to try is to reboot everything. Shut down the computer, the cable modem (by pulling the plug on the back of it), and the router (by pulling the plug on the back of it). Wait 30 seconds, then plug in the modem; wait and other 30 seconds, then plug in the router, wait another 30 and turn on the computer. It shouldn't actually require a full 30 seconds between each step, but if you do that, you'll know that you definitely gave each device enough time. That should fix the problem. If it doesn't, post again indicating what happened.
Ok, cable (coax) comes in from wall and attaches to modem. Ethernet cable goes from modem to WAN Port of router. You may have to reboot both devices to ensure that your modem (internet service provider) assigns IP address to your router. If PC is close enough, attach new ethernet cable from one of the 4 ports on your router down to your PC's ethernet adapter. (where your modem used to plug into). Router will now assign an IP address to your PC and you should be able to access the www.
Good Luck and let me know if you have any more questions.
