Question about Sharp R-1850A Convection/Microwave Oven

Sharp R-1830 800W Clock gone crazy

Very strange. Time continuously counts up. Can be interupted by setting time to cook, but if you want it to cook for 30 seconds, you must enter 3000. Then it will cook and count down in hundredths of seconds. This is really weird. First problem with this unit since purchased in 1994. Any ideas?

Hi, I have never worked on a microwave, but spent 10 years as an electronics Technician in the Navy, have multimeters and soldering irons. Some direction about where to get the schematic and physical access to the board would be very helpful. The first thing I will try is to cut power to the box to see if it will reset.

Got it! I just unplugged it and immediately plugged it back in and it now works normally. Thanks for your help!

Hi the problem your having sounds like either the board as got damp and is causing a short or it could be something stupid like just need resistor replacing have you tried switching off at mains for couple of hours to reset the unit also if it is a resistor this is cheap to buy and repair as long as you have the ability to test the board and any resistors and also soldering ability.
If you need to get somebody else to do this then you might find it cheaper to replace the whole unit as with the age you might get something else go wrong.
This isnt something you can solve by pressing buttons it will need the board testing at various points and also checking the resistance at certain points on the board.
If you have never worked and repaired microwaves before then i sugest leave it for someone else because you could cause serious harm to yourself or family members.
But if you have multi meter and good soldering iron then you could find the schematics on line and test the board yourself.
Let me know what you want to do so i can assist you further ok

Round soft key OXO Timer I need to change the clock time their model # is 1061978

Operating functions:
To set the clock, press and hold the clock/timer button for three seconds. A clock icon will appear on the left side of the screen. Input the time using the numerical buttons and then click the clock/timer button to save the time.
To set the timer, press and release the clock/timer button so that the display shows all zeroes. Enter the desired time using the keypad. Press start/stop to start the countdown. The countdown may be paused by pressing the stop/start button and resumed by pressing the same button again.
When countdown is complete, timer will beep continuously for thirty seconds and display will flash. Timer will then beep every ten seconds for ten minutes until the stop/start button is pressed.
This timer will also time up to time activities. To start count up, press clear/memory so timer reads all zeroes. Press stop/start and a plus sign will appear on the right side of the screen as the timer begins counting up.

The clock works & counts down but the microwave won't heat

  • Disconnect the power for 30 seconds. After restoring power, do not set the clock.
  • If your model has an ON/OFF clock display, you can choose not to have the time displayed. To choose this option, press the 0 pad for about three seconds. To Turn the display back on, press the 0 again.

Touch the clock pad. Enter in the correct time of day by touching the numbers in sequence. Touch the clock pad again.

Microwave lights up but no cook!

Magnetron of your Microwave oven may be defective. If there is a fuse between the highvoltage transformer and to the highvoltahe capacitor check the fuse is blown off. If so replace the fuse. If it is Ok change the Magnetron.

We have a frigidaire microwave and in the middle of cooking, the motor stopped. The clock and cook time continued to work, but no heat. We've tried using at half power, on defrost, etc. but nothing seems...

What you are saying the microwave stop work like heating, but but the clock counts down.If it is stop heating then there is a rest on or near the magtrogron.Once it cools down it start back heating.Open and close the door will reset power to the magtrogen{sorry about the spelling].Look for loose connector,or replace the click zon it should have a small red buttom on it.

Does not cook - time counts down extremely fast

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for about 5 minutes.

Then let us know if the hard reset does not fix it.
and please reply back with your brand and model number so we can help you.
