The only part that has gease is the gearcase. It is a sealed system and you can not fix it,you need a new gearcase. You should just replace the entire washer. Sorry

Are you using a liquid fabric softener ? If so , try using dryer sheets instead . Maytag is known for making liquid softener look like grease on clothes . After switching for a while , and still grease looking stains , then it is possible for the water to be getting into the transmission and pushing the grease up into the tub . Rare , but happens . Time for another machine if that happens .

Odors usually come from bacteria . Assuming that is what is causeing it look fro some washing machine cleaner. The newer style front loaders have a water door seal that the bacteria can collect in and this may be your trouble. the gasket folds down some for cleaning. Ask any appliance sales person for conformation on this and how to clean - service the gasket. It its is a top loader same thing can happen but no seal to deal with that you can reach. Use a washing m,achine cleaner in it as well.

If it is comming from your water a chet with a water treatment person is what you need. Culligan or others are what I recomend.

Check and make sure the seal at the bottom of the washer is not wore out. Alot of times you will get grease from the bearins and drum assembly if this wears out.
